SOURCE: I have a dewalt 18v cordless hammer drill but for

depends on where you drilling- wood - no hammer option needed- fast, metal- no hammer option needed- also fast, but it is concrete- sorry- hammer option needed so it will always drill slower, and drain your batteries way faster (have a spare one ready).Speaking about drilling - don't drill for too long with no breaks to cool them down, always keep an eye on gun's and battery's temperature- even if it is new Lithium NANO, do not let them overheat.
BTW- what model is yours? Is It SDS hammer drill sort of DC212KL?

SOURCE: Dead DW972 Cordless Drill?

Easiest and safest: take the tool and batteries to nearest shop where they sell Dewalt. Ask the guy to let you use their batteries in your tool and vice versa, your batteries in their tool. DYI procedure:To check batteries: - if you have some multimeter, try to measure voltage and if possible also amps (but only for a fraction of the second, if battery is good, amperes shoudl jump up very quickly) - if you have no multimeter, try to find 12V bulb (check spare bulbs for your car), use wire to connect and it should light up. To check tool: open it up, take some 12V DC source, put wires on contacts inside the handle where battery connects. Pull the trigger and it should work. you can try to put wires directly to contacts on the motor. Follow cables from the switch to motor.

I have an 18v Milwaukee drill. Can I use a 28v charger to charge the 18v battery

Generally, When your have the 18V milwaukee drill, you had better to use the same voltage battery charger to charge the battery. it will be more safe.

How come my lithium 18v battery (194205-3) wont fit on my new Makita 6 1/2 circular saw?

I sell & repair the Makita line of tools and the BL1830 (194205-3) battery is designed to fit on Makita's entire line of 18-volt tools. You didn't give the model number of your saw so my best suggestion is to make sure the saw is an 18-volt tool then make sure the tool's and battery's mating surfaces are OK. Try the battery in other tools & try other batteries on the saw. If this doesn't help please respond with the saw's model number or what you found out doing what I've suggested.

Can you use 18v lithium battery in old 18v drill

Yes you can. On tools, 18 volts is 18 volts. Tools don't 'know' how the power is being created, either by Ni-Cad or Li-Ion means. Chargers are totally different. Most Li-Ion chargers can charge older Ni-Cad and some Ni-MH batteries but older Ni-Cad chargers will charge Li-Ion battery untill they overheat and sometimes start on fire because older chargers can't detect when the Li-Ion batteries are full.

18 volt batteries

Yes you can, as long as the batteries are the same style and fit the older Ryobi tools. The Ah rating is a capacity rating. The higher the Ah, the longer the battery will last so the 1.7Ah will just last a bit longer than the 1.5Ah batteries, but yes you can use them on older 18v Ryobi tools. I do it all the time.
