I had this happen to me on a Nokia phone and it ended up cooking the phone as well.

Try this, remove the battery and look for any obstructions in the back of the phone where the battery sits that could cause a problem. Sometimes the electronics in there heat the battery up. If your are experience any strange behavior with your cell phone such as display issues, shutting off for no reason or missing programs from your phone, you should take it into a dealer and get it repaired.

If the firmware is damaged, then the phone will need a DESKEY (brand name) security dongle, Nokia Phone Tools, and serial to phone interface cord to reprogram it. You likely will not be able to find the hardware items needed. Some retailers may still have the equipment needed to support this "mature" phone.
