I have a clifford G4 alarm/remote start system installed 12 years ago. since yesterday, the vehicle starts then shuts off. it appears that the module sends a signal to keep the starter engaged after it starts, so then it shuts off a few seconds later. i had this problem a few months ago and tapped the control module and it never happened again. we have below zero weather here in Chicago lately the last few weeks, but no problem....however, this started yesterday. Have not had a chance to tap the module. what do you think?

it is getting a shutdown trigger from somewhere. check manual for rem.st. diagnostic trouble code section to find out where from is step one.

The start/stop 3x thing could be one of a few main issues. You need a bypass module or it needs to be reset. You need to program the tach if you're using it. Make sure with the new models(5101, 5301) it's programmed for auto transmission. The come default for manual transmissions.

If you have a bulldog remote start, you should have it removed right away. I work at best buy, and we will not install these any more because of the problems they cause. You should buy something made by DEI, they cost a little more, but are very well made and come with a lifetime warrenty.

Assuming that all is well with the vehicle's electrical system (fuses, etc...), the following should work, as Viper/Clifford uses the "fail safe" method of starter disable, and it only works to lock out the starter when the alarm is functioning properly and in the armed state.

That system has a "starter kill" system. When the alarm is actived, the starter kill is engages, and won't let the starter get voltage from the ignition switch. First thing I'd try is connecting the car's battery while the ignition key is turned to the "on/run" position. Cycle the alarm to arm, then disarm, so that the LED is not blinking. It also may require using the manual override button/switch (with the key on) to reset the alarm. Should start after that.

If all else fails, reconnecting the starter wires back together (they are spliced and running through the alarm via a SPDT relay.
