Maybe there is something interfering with the difficulty plus button it may be stuck. try holding the difficulty minus and see it that hold it level and if it increases when you release its a faulty button.
You can't with this type of trainer. You have to have a trainer where you can manually adjust the resistance. The closest you can do is shift your gearing.
Fluid trainers work by providing resistance that increases as your effort increases, much like riding on the road. There is not a switch or lever to increase the resistance with this specific trainer. So in short you have to put in a bigger effort to get more resistance. Putting in more effort and increasing your Cadence (rpm's) will provide a harder resistance and will decrease your duration attainable. This is OK. One of the benefits of using a trainer is that you can get more accomplished in less time.
