I can't figure out how to remove the front half of my fan casing, in order to get inside to clean it off. The two halves were obviously snapped together and it seems like they ought to snap apart, but I just cannot seem to part them! What is the magic secret to prying them apart?
How do I clean my Cyclone or Air Companion™?
Lay the fan face up on a flat surface. The front grill should be facing you. Remove the screws from the rear grill. Place a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the front and rear grills. Pull the front grill towards you, exposing the fan blade. Do not remove the knobs on either side. Then, wipe the blade with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if necessary. Be sure not to touch the motor. Click here to download product instruction sheet.
I just finished doing this. The existing suggestions not being clear to me, I will add my own here to possibly clear this up for someone else. As things turned out, I had to clean oily dust from the fan motor, so I include instructions for doing so. If you only want to clean the fan blades you can simply skip steps 3-6:
1. Unplug the fan from the wall outlet of course.
2. The front cover of the fan housing pops off. You will need to gently pry it to get a handhold, I used a large flat-blade screwdriver. If all you want to do is clean the blades and housing, you can do so now and skip to step 6.
3. There is a 6" round cover on the back of the fan housing. This hides the screws that fasten the motor and fan assembly from the housing. It is secured by 4 tabs on the round cover itself. You can gently pry this cover off using a medium-sized flat blade screwdriver.
4. Now that the 4 Allen screws are exposed, you can unfasten them. The motor and fan blade assembly will then fall away from the fan housing, however it will remain attached to the housing by virtue of the flat power cable connecting the fan switch to the motor.
5. Vacuum all dust from around the motor. There are slots on the motor housing exposing the motor windings. Oily dust that accumulates around the windings is impervious to vacuuming. so take a tweezers and gently pick out this dust, being very careful not to pull on the motor winding wire.
6. Reattach the motor/blade assembly to the housing with the four screws, first ensuring that the flat power cable is secure in its channel: you will likely need to press the cable back under the single tab in this channel, since the cable will probably have pulled itself out of its channel in the housing while you were cleaning the motor.
7. Plug the fan into the wall outlet and try it. My 12-year old fan started up as if new, whereas it would not run at all prior to this procedure.
8. Clean the front cover, pop it back on, and you're done.
Great directions!! Thank you
Where did you pry to get the front housing off?
Thank you! But after cleaning it won't turn turn on. It's only about 3 years old.
Where would I oil it?

There are 4 tabs that hold the two plastic halves together. I used a flathead screw driver to gently lift the edge to find the tabs and then used the flathead to release the tabs.
BEST WAY TO CLEAN YOUR FAN
USE A VACCUUUM WITH A BRUSH ATTACHMENT!!!!!
I TOOK OFF THE FACE OF THE LASKO 20 INCH WIND MACHINE AND USED A VACUUM WITH BRUSH ATTACHMENT TO CLEAN EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE BLADES. NO NEED TO GET WATER INVOLVED.
GOOD LUCK
Jas mann above explains it well. You pry the front of fan out. It takes some good hard prying, but it works. I just did a dry cleaning of blades and whisk broom for the frame. Now it blows like it did when it was new 3 years ago. Good luck

Usually answered in minutes!
To be clear, the 3520 model does not have a remote, but a manual dial with 3 speeds and there are no accessible screws. I downloaded the user manual from Lasko website, it says in all caps: "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE APART FAN. Clean the body of the fan w a soft cloth."
And you believed it!
Two screws holding it on.. then the little plastic push retainers.
