How do i turn my phone to silent mode?

I turn the volume all the way down and i switch the messaging sounds to off,but it still makes noise when i recieve a message,how do i fix this?

To place the handset in Silent / Vibrate Mode
Step 1
To place the handset in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode, hold down the pound key (#) for about 2 seconds. To exit Silent / Vibrate Mode, perform the same action while in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode. You will see a confirmation message for Silent / Vibrate Only Mode, each time you enter or exit Silent / Vibrate Mode.
The SCH-U470 (Juke) handset will vibrate rather than ring when you receive a phone call, message or alert while in Silent Vibrate Only Mode.
Step 2
While in standby mode, press the volume key, located on the left side of the handset, then select either “Vibrate Only", “Alarm Only” or “All Sounds Off”. To disable perform the same action while in Silent / Vibrate Mode.
The SCH-U470 (Juke) handset will vibrate rather than ring when you receive a phone call, message or alert while in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode.

Hi,

check the left side of your iphone and see if the ringer button is down then raise it up and increase the sound volume. Or go to settings then sounds and check the sound level. Else try to restart your iphone if it doesn't work then the problem might be in your iphone speaker.

To turn off the ringtone:

Press and hold the Power key on the top of the phone, then tap Silent mode.
Press and hold the down the Volume key until the volume bar is empty and the Ringer volume icon has a x next to it.
To set the vibrating alert:

1.From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
2.Tap Sound & display.
3.Mark the Phone vibrate checkbox.
Tip: When in silent mode, press the Volume key up once to activate the phone vibrate mode.

Do the opposite to turn it back on.

When I recieve phone calls and texts on my iPhone 3GS there is no sound I have checked the settings and the volume is on Full but still no joy
Is it set to silent mode? Even in silent mode, the settings menu still displays the volume but none will play. To turn it off, there is a switch located on the right side of the phone above the volume rocker. Flip the switch toward the front of the phone and hopefully your volume will return.

Phone is stuck in silent mode
Press and hold the pound key (#) until it exits silent mode. 

Here is the original text from the manual of the phone:

"Quickly Switching to Silent Mode
Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the
phone from making noise, in a theater for example.
In Idle mode, press and hold the "#" key until the “Silent
Mode” message and the Vibration icon display...

To exit and reactivate the previous sound settings, press
and hold the # key again until “Exit Silent Mode” appears.
The Vibration icon no longer displays."

How do I switch the sound of the keypad off, without using the # button for silent mode?
iv just had a look on mine and theres no option to turn keypad sounds but if u turn volume down,you wont hear keypad noise and u can still hear calls and messeges because you can set there volume independently.

YOU CAN TURN SILENT MODE OFF BY JUST PUSHING THE UP ARROW FROM THE CLOCK SCREEN AND HOLDING IT DOWN UNTIL IT RELEASES SILENT MODE. TO TURN SILENT ON JUST DO THE SAME PUSHING THE DOWN ARROW.

No ringtone when receiving a call
Check if your iPhone is not in silent mode. Push the Ring/Silent switch upwards to turn off silent mode. You'll know that the silent mode is not on when you don't see the small red dot at the Ring/Silent switch which is located just above the volume buttons.

Hi, i have an iphone 8gb 2g and the silent button is broken and stuck in silent mode, the switch turns easly but it dose not do any thing. is there any way of geting the sound back up, as the mobile wont...
There is a very small switch on the left side of the Iphone, just above the volume lever. if it is accidentally switched down, it will be put on silent mode. Flip it back up and it should be OK.

You will also notice a bell shaped figure appears when you flip it up. When you flip it down, a line will go through the bell letting you know you have set it to silent mode.
