This is more than likely a laser issue. Does it spin the disc up? The first thing the CDJ will do when you put a disc in, is look for a reflection of the laser, which tells it that there is a disc inserted. There should be a short pause whilst it does this, before it fails and spits the disc back out again. If this is the case, there is either dirt and grime on the laser lens, or the laser needs to be replaced. Normally I recommend replacing the traverse mechanism, which includes the spindle motor and laser assembly.
If this needs to be replaced, either ask for more help, or contact your local Pioneer Service Agent.
CDJ1000 Mk1 & Mk2's need to be sent to Pioneer or Videotec for firmware updates, Mk3's software can be update from CD. Visit the Pioneer website for the file (to burn to disc) and instructions.
This could be a number of things causing this problem, its proberly best to take it to your local dj equipment repair shop as it dosent sound like a quick fix. if you havent had your player repaired you can send it to us to look at it for you.
