Ge profile ceramic electric cooktop

My cooktop suddenly would not turn off the front left burner.  It blew the breaker if you even tried to turn the knob.  A few days we left the breaker on and a pot of water on the burner so we could use our oven (constantly having to turn the breaker on and off).   Within a few days smoke started coming from the knobs.  An electrician came and cut the wires and capped them.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Are there any ge profile cooktop recalls?  Even if it were to be repaired, I would still be scared it would malfunction again and cause an electrical fire.  Advice?

Thank you.  GE tried to tell me we were hit by lightning and that was that.  You are the 3rd person who suggested a new burner switch.  I'll make the call today.  Thank you again.

I noticed the stove top wouldn't stop "clicking" so I unplugged the stove. Then after I plugged it back in I noticed the right rear burner wouldn't click or light. The clicking all comes from the left front, but with my right rear burner there is nothing right now. Does that mean I need to replace the burner switch?

No recalls that I know of.  The switch for that burner has shorted and will need to be replaced.  It will be fine once it is repaired.

Hot surface light stays on on GE Profile Cooktop model JP989 and On does not light for left burners. This is only happening on left burners. Left front burner goes to high with any setting on the switch...

You could have a shorted burner, if it is not then you may have gotten a bad part.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

GE Profile mod. PP975bM3BB all lights work Burner will not heat

You have lost half of the circuit in the breaker, the lights work on one side of it but the burners need both sides of a 220 volt circuit. I would have the breaker tested first, and if it is good, look for a fuse, relay, breaker in the back of the stove. Hope this helps.

F113

I have the same problem. I had a repair man here and he said the main powder logic board ( WB23T10014) was the problem, it would cost $757 to fix. I ordered the board for $230 and installed it myself but still have the F113 problem.

GE profile performance electric cook top is not producing enough heat in the front burners.

Confirm there is 240 VAC powering the unit (make sure a breaker has not tripped or a fuse blown.).

Did the burners ever produce enough heat?

If yes, then we can look deeper. If no, then the burners may not be adequate for your cooking style. Burners are like light bulbs. A 60 watt bulb will put out more light than a 40 watt bulb. A 100 watt bulb will put out more light than a 60.
Typically, a small burner will provide less cooking heat than a large burner.

Burners on JP326 electric not heating

Sounds like breaker tripped so no 220 to unit. Reset breaker. The burner switch you first turned on probably blew out and needs replacing, so don't turn it on again. If all else works ok, then that is it. Unless you are handy you may want to call the repair man.
