If your HP Printer blinking lights that meand printer has some technical or mechanical errors. The HP printer has blinked different lights and that has different meaning and solutions. ATTENTION light(triangle): Indicates that the print-cartridge door is open, print cartridge is missing, and other errors.

If ATTENTION and READY light is blinking:

Printer initialization
The printer is initializing.
No action is necessary.

Cleaning mode
A cleaning page is printing.
Wait until the cleaning page has finished and the printer is in the Ready state.
This could take up to two minutes.

If ATTENTION and READY light is on:

Fatal error
Turn off the printer, and then unplug the printer power cord for 30 minutes.
Plug the printer power cord into the power outlet, and then turn the printer on.
If the error persists, replace the printer.

If ATTENTION light is blinking and READY light is off:

1. Attention: door open, no print cartridge, or media jam
   

The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention.
Check the following:
? The print cartridge door must be completely closed.
? The print cartridge is correctly installed.
? There is no media jam.

2. Out of memoryThe printer is out of memory.
The page you are printing might be too complex for the printer's memory capacity.
Try lowering the resolution.

If the "attention" light is the only light on (in your case blinking) that means that the print cartridge door is open. Pull out the cartridge and make sure that the door closes. Install the cartridge and close the door.

There can be 5 things that can cause the "attention" light to blink.
Without knowing what the "event log error" is, I'll give you the 5.
1. top cover is open
2. out of paper
3. paper jam
4. paper misfeed
5. fuser missing or not installed correctly

That means ATTENTION, you are either out of toner or have a paper jam.

Imaging drum is empty or missing (Error 40204) Light pattern Description The imaging drum is empty or missing. The imaging drum light is blinking, and then printer stops printing. An error 40204 is written to the event log. The printer cannot detect the imaging drum correctly. Action

1. Reinsert or replace the imaging drum.
2. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with a new imaging drum.
4. If the problem continues, contact HP Customer Care at http://www.hp.com/support/clj2550 or see the flyer that came in the printer box for other contact information.

Imaging drum e-label reader is faulty (Error 10004) Light pattern Description The imaging drum light is blinking, and then printer stops printing. An error 10004 is written to the event log. The imaging drum e-label reader is faulty and the printer cannot detect the imaging drum correctly. Action

1. Reinsert or replace the imaging drum.
2. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with a new imaging drum.
4. If the problem continues, contact HP Customer Care at http://www.hp.com/support/clj2550 or see the flyer that came in the printer box for other contact information.

If error number 40204 was writtent to the error log, the imaging drum is either empty or missing (I would suspect empty). If error number 10004 was written to the error log, the imaging drum e-reader may have failed. So, in either case, reinsert the imaging drum. If the light continues to blink and the Attention light (exclamation point in a triangle) is not on, turn the printer off and then back on. If this does not clear the error, replace the imaging drum with a new one. Again, if the light continues to blink and the Attention light is off, turn the printer off and then back on.

If the error persists after these steps, let us know and we can persue other options.

If only the attention light is flashing then follow the guide below -

The Attention (amber)

1. Clear the jam (see pages 164 through 168).
2. If the location of the jam is not apparent, check
the embedded Web server to find the jam
location.

If the jam was under the imaging drum, toggle
the registration sensor to check its movement
and replace the registration sensor if it does not
move freely.

If the jam was in the fuser area, toggle the fuser
exit sensor to check its movement and replace
the fuser exit sensor if it does not move freely.

Here is what HP has on the subject of the triangle light flashing:

Door open, media out, no print cartridge, or media jam

The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention or help. Check the following:

• The print cartridge door is completely closed.
• Media is loaded.
• The print cartridge is correctly installed in the printer.
• There is no media jam.

The Attention LED is blinking. Check paper loading then open and close top cover.

When there is a jam in tray 1, verify the paper is loaded correctly, open and close the top cover. Pressing GO is ignored.

When there is a jam in tray X, verify the paper is loaded correctly, open and close the top cover. Pressing GO is ignored. These are the error explanations for just the flashing triangle light, there are many more, but none for just the flashing triangle.
