WHEN I HIT THE KEYS WITH LETTERS AND NUMBERS ON THEM THE NUMBERS ARE COMING UP HOW DO I GET THAT FUNCTION OFF Hi, Make sure that Number Lock is not turned on. (You can tell if Number Lock is turned on by looking for the LED indicator light shaped like a padlock with a number 1 in it.) If this light is on, press the NumLk key to turn off Number Lock. That should resolve your problem. well guess what it didn't. numbers are still coming up is any other solution?

SOURCE: I press certain letter keys

You have your numbers lock on, press the NumLk key and that should correct it. You will notice on you keyboard that there are small numbers on it below some of the letters, this is so you can use the keyboard has a 10 key number pad/ calculator etc. If pressing the NumLk key does not work, the key may be stuck or you have a bad keyboard

Above my scroll/# lock the lightbar is lit,and some letters produce #... i = 5 etc

Sounds like yo have the scroll lock or num lock turned on. If the scroll key is a colored key (the scroll lk lettering is blue) then you will have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the scroll key to turn it off. When it is turned on if you press the letter i you get the number 5. If you press the letter O you get the number 6.

Notice that the numbers on the keys that have letters are a different color than the letters (blue most times). That means you have to Press and Hold the blue FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the key with the same color if you want the colored representation to happen.

Some laptops will use a Square Box instead of the blue colors on the keys. In that case you have to press and hold the key a the lower left portion of the keyboard that has the square box, then hit the key you want.

How to gat it to type letters it is stuck on numbers

Number Lock is enabled.

Look for a 'function' button usually labeled 'fn' and in a different color.

Hold that down and then hit the Num Lock button.

If you don't have a 'fn' button just hit the Num Lock button.

Press the number lock key once, if you press it again it will turn the numbers again. It is usually one of the keys above the Function keys (ie F1 to F12 keys).
