My Tomtom will not charge when connected to the mains or by car charger...no green light.... The only way it will charge is by a usb connection to my pc...
Thanks, but I have tried several chargers and I have also tried the reset button, all to no avail. Like I say, it charges on the usb connected to my pc but not by any other method.

Had same problem with tomtom one v2 on holiday, had no charge light in car or on mains. It had popped the fuse in car charger so used my mates to no avail. Have just took it apart to see if there is a small fuse inside. There is not, but while apart i pressed the reset button in put in back together and it worked! So try the reset button first.
If it is charging via a USB connection on your computer there is nothing wrong with the TT. It doesn't matter if you are trying to charge via USB, mains, or car charger the connection is the same for all in your TT. I would look elsewhere for the problem. More than likely your car charger is faulty.

Two possibilities:
- if someone has used the wrong charger, and connected it to a 12V supply, the mainboard may be damaged. In that case, you need a replacement.
- the battery may be discharged. Even if the green light is on, it doesn't necessarily charge up. Try pushing it hard onto the mount for a few minutes, then see if it will turn on.
try the usb cable to your. this is the recommended method to charge a tomtom when it wont power on. for reasons unexplained by tomtom they do not recommend the car or house charges.
plug it in via the usb cable to your computer for a few hours(make sure the green light is on and nice and bright) then press and hold the power button(this could take up to 20 seconds)

Mine does the same, the light comes on on the charger, but not on the TomTom unit itself. There is clearly a loose connection in the cable somewhere as you can twist the flex and make it work, although this is not very reliable.
I just use a USB charger from an old phone instead.
1= My battery is flat, but when i put it on charge in the house it doesnt charge and no green light comes on, on my sat nav why would this be?
Could be your house charger is bad or the power connector on the back of the Tomtom is bad.
2= But when i put it in car charge it works perfect 'Y'?
You are using the "power shoe" to charge the battery. For a test unplug the power cord from the power shoe and hook it to the back of the Tomtom. If this work then the house charger is bad. If this doesn't work then the Tomtom rear power connector is bad
3= If ever i have to change battery how is this done?
You will have to remove the faceplate and disassemble the Tomtom in order to get to the battery. Or you can find a shop that repairs small electronic. Find the battery on Ebay.
I have a similar problem and I think I solved it (orr found a way to work around it). It looks like the contacts are not connecting firmly so even though the green light may be on, the charging conneciton is not made. With the tomtom on your home dock from the front page on your tomtom, touch near the lower right of the screen on the satellite strength indicator, this should bring up a screen where it shows (among other things) your batter status at the top right. If it is charging, the word charging will be under the battery strength indicator. Just play with it until you get the word "charging" to appear under the picture of the battery.then HANDS OFF until it is charged. I doubt this will be successful with the car charger since the movement of the car will likely jar the connection loose. Good luck.

Like I say, it charges on the usb connected to my pc but not by any other method.
