I need a USB driver for the used Tascam DP-01FX porta studio that I bought. Doesn't seem to be one available on the Tascam website. Where can I get one?
Ok first i just wanna prepare ya on how bad your gonna kick yourself on this one, i have a used one and dont really use honestly i hate it...but i decided to mess around with it and decide to get sumthing decent and bring it to the comp for the first time...and i seen i had the same issue.. and saw that alot of people did to and they went on and on with no solution...so i gave myself 5mins to think and remember....and here ya go you ready... after you save all your songs correctly to get them ready for export...step 1.plug it into your usb port...step 2. ignore the fact that its not being noticed by windows...step 3. go to menu on ur tascam scroll down to disk hit yes/enter.step 4..now ur in the disk menu and right there the third choice..usb open/close hit enter and there ya go you will be prompt to open the usb port and everything is done your ready to go...when ur done u close the port...basicly an on and off switch for the usb port...i hope it helps and its not too late...good luck..oh it should be in the manual under usb...thats how i remembered it cause i remember reading it.
This worked like a champ on Windows 10x64...Thanks for taking the time to post a thorough solution!
I can't believe this worked! I have the manual and everything and never really understood the need to simply turn on the USB from the Tascam unit. My Windows 10 also immediate recognized it and songs I had mastered and stored on my DP-01FX were sitting there ready to play on my computer where I use Cool Edit Pro for my audio editing. Everything I read elsewhere in various forums claimed the DP-01's would not work with any version of Windows past XP. That information is flatly not true! I can't thank you enough!

The Tascam does not have a special USB driver. The generic one provided with Windows XP or Vista should suffice.
