Model: MHW3100DW Can't get door unlocked. Pump just runs. The buttons are not responding to anything.

Here's your use and care guide. Try it out, it works. If you still can't get your unit to reset, the drain or drain filter or pump may be clogged. The door won't unlock until it knows the tub is drained.

Washer 4000 series 4.5 cu ft

The newer model Maytag washers are manufactured by Whirlpool and have Whirlpool parts. If this is a Maytag Epic model washerlb_icon1.png, "F21" is a Long Drain error code. This is an indication that you have an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system. Most commonly, this means there is something lodged in the drain pump or inlet line running from the wash tub to the pump. There is a white screw off cap on the drain pump that you can remove to inspect the pump impeller and clean. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608588-f21_error_code

Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. You may also have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Debris and small articles of clothinglb_icon1.png such as sock or under garments can commonly clog in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.

Cleaned filter, found some money. put it all back together but still there is leaks from this area. the machine has not been used for a week and all hoses pipes seem fine.cant figure out where water is...

It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways and is the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water has leaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here. In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of the house and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be loose on the grip which can all cause the leak to occurs. Removing and Cleaning the drain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water can leak if there is gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but this will happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.

I have a Samsung WF448AAP/XAA washer. I have had it for a year + and have never cleaned the filter on the bottom of the machine. Tech support told me to clean the filter. Dumb, I know, I just didn't...

There is most likely something stuck in the rubber hose between the drum and the pump, Unfortunately this is not easy to get to as it requires tilting the machine back and climbing underneath to remove the hose and check it. Make sure you disconnect the power before doing this.

My neptune front loading washing machine does not drain out when done washing. It is an older model, can it be fixed?

Yes - likely the pump (or component of the pump) has failed - or drain is clogged. Without tearing into it - the proper fix cannot be determined.

Maytag Neptune Superstack water accumulation and odor

The first thing to do is to CHECK IN AND AROUND THE RUBBER DOOR BOOT (called a bellow) for small articles of clothing (like socks and underwear) that may have gotten lodged in behind the rubber. Pull the rubber back where it meets the wash tub and look behind it. It is common for small items to get stuck here, become forgotten and start to mildew. You should check this area after each wash and clean it periodically to get rid of the formation of soap scum, mold, and mildew. HINT: When you get ready to wash a load of towels, take a dirty towel and clean the door boot thoroughly (including the areas behind the rubber). Immediately place the towel in the wash and run it on a sanitary cycle. This way you eliminate the need for cleaning rags.

PERIODICALLY RUN THE WASHER ON A CLEANING CYCLE. Place the washer on the hottest setting you have (usually a Sanitary cycle) with nothing but bleach in the wash tub. Some newer models actually have a "Clean Cycle" available now just for this purpose. This helps keep the wash tub, drain lines and pump sanitized.

CHECK AND CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER. Accumulations of debris in the drain pump filter can also cause odors. HINT: If you own a shop vac, pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line. This will drain any residual water left in the tub, pump and drain lines BEFORE you remove the drain pump cover. This will prevent a messy clean up later.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN IF POSSIBLE. When not in use, leave the door open to allow the tub to air out and to keep mold and mildew from forming on the door bellow. I know this may not be desirable in some households with small children. If too much mildew forms on the rubber and it cannot be removed, replacement of the bellow may be required.

NOTE: This problem is common with front loader style washing machines. The doors on these machines have an air tight/water tight seal that is great for sealing the washer during the wash cycle, but can be terrible for collecting small garments and for not allowing the tub to properly air out when not in use. Following these simple preventive measures can go a long way towards preventing harmful mold and mildew, and towards extending the life of the door bellow and pump.

Our maytag neptune mah8700aww front loader will not drain and unlock the door. what do i do.

The drain pump os obviously either blocked or gone. Lie the drain hose on the ground to drain by gravity. Then have a look at the pump. This may need to be taken out as I'm not sure if there is a pump filter on this particular model. The door is designed to not open with water in the drum.

How can i clean the pump

Remove the lower kick panel that is located directly below the door. If this is a Frigidaire model, the pump will be located in the front under the drum. Some pumps have a clean out trap with a screw on cover. Most Frigidaire models and GE models do not, however. You will need to remove the rubber hose from the inlet side of the drain pump in order to access the pump impeller. This is usually the larger of the two hoses attached to the pump. There will be some residual water inside the wash tub that you will need to drain, or be prepared to clean up when you remove the hose. An easy way to get rid of the residual water is to use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain hose at the wall. This will pull and remaining water from the tub and drain lines. Otherwise, you will need to lay down some towels.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water in the tub and drain lines.

If you are experiencing drainage issue and cleaning does not correct the problem, you will need to replace the drain pump.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
