The link contains the service manual for your unit. These units are repairable. The plastic nylon parts are usually what requires replacement. Parts are readily available. If you elect to do DIY I suggest you take many pictures and notes to aid in reassembly. They are not particularity difficult to repair, but it is very easy to lose your way trying to re-assemble.
They are not intuitive in the operation using lots of little cams and levers to achieve the functions.
Documentation is critical. The most difficult is the timing adjustments. Study the assembly and cycle the unit with covers removed to observe the basic function.
Keep the screws/parts marking their location and grouped
Replacement of the failed worm gear is one of the least difficult to achieve, Parts available on e-bay
Careful not to to touch the bulb or lens.
If you need to remove the lenses document the stack careful for reassembly
I have used lithium grease during reassembly.
