Somewhere along the line you programmed a talk group into your scanner that does not have any association with any trunking system and your scanner did not like it. You can either find the codes and erase them individually or the hard reset (reset to factory default) by following the steps above.
If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
Initializing erases/deletes all user-programmed information and resets the scanner to its original factory settings - see page 83 of your owners manual. There is no backup function associated with the initialing procedure unless you have saved your data to a computer file or another scanner. You will need to re-enter your programming data.
Need the manual? You can download and print it, at no cost, here: http://scancat.com/OnLineHelp/OEM_Radio_Owners_Manuals/RadioShack-OlderManuals/Pro-95/pro95.pdf
The ERROR message normally indicates that you've entered a frequency that's out of the scanner's tuning range. Check your manual to confirm that your frequencies are within the unit's reception capabilities. If the freq is in range and the problem continues, you may need to RESET or INITIALIZE the scanner to restore it to its original factory settings.
To RESET the PRO-135: 1. Power the scanner OFF. 2. While holding in the 2, 9 and PSE keys, power the scanner on. The process takes about 3 seconds to complete.
To INITIALIZE the scanner: 1. Power the scanner OFF 2. While holding in the 3, ENT, and PGM keys, power the scanner ON. NOTE: The INITIALIZE process will delete/erase all of the information that you've programmed into the scanner.
You didn't mention your location or the type(s) of digital system signals you lost, but if you've been listening to an EDACS system it's possible that the manager has switched on the PROVOICE security option. That would prevent your scanners from recognizing the effected users and would also account for both scanners being effected. If your area is using EDACS I suggest that you visit www.RadioReference.com to check on system particulars.
The PRO-95 is also known for losing its logic and requiring a RESET or INITIALIZE, although it would odd for two units to go squirrelly at the same time.
If all else fails, you can RESET or INITIALIZE the scanners to bring them back to normal operation.
To RESET: - Power the scanner OFF - Power the scanner back ON - Insert a pointed object (paper clip, penpoint, etc.) into the RESET hole on the back of the scanner - Gently press and then release the RESET button inside the hole.
NOTE: RESET will NOT erase the data that you've programmed into the scanner.
If RESET doesn't clear the problem, you can carry out the more drastic INITIALIZE process.
- Power the scanner OFF - Power the scanner back ON - Press 0 then 1 while "Welcome to Dual Trunking" is displayed. - "Initializing Please Wait" will appear for about 2 seconds.
DO
NOT power the scanner OFF until the INITIALIZE process is complete
(M000 and Bank 0 Ch 00 appear on the display). The INITIALIZE procedure
will reset the scanner to original factory settings and erase all data
that you have programmed.
