Error E3 when no paper jam

Printer makes no attempt to pull paper from hopper. Rollers run forward and backwards for a bit, then printer shows E3. Have searched inside printer and can see no paper jam or other objects. Have tried de-powering. Have tried feeding paper directly into printer rollers from hopper, it just gets pulled straight through and out.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've watched the carrier carefully and it shows no signs of sticking and travels right to the end of the track. The lever + coiled sping assembly I can see appears to be a lock that stops the carrier from moving if the paper transport is in reverse. It also seems to have something to do with the mechanism that lifts the paper, but that's a level of dismantling I'm not comfortable with. However, after fiddling with the various cogs in that area, it now works. No idea what I've done. Now just got to put it back together again!

MP160 PIXMA paper feed jam E3 error. I completely solved this on my Canon MP160 printer but it is a common problem and the fix may work for others such as MP130 MP140 MP145 MP150 MP170 or MP180. With the problem I had, the printer would make the usual motor whirring noises but would not feed the paper. The usual c-clunk sound that indicated the feed roller has been engaged was not there. The screen warning said to remove jammed paper and the printer showed an E3 error.

The problem was caused by the ink cartridge carrier becoming stcky on its track and not fully returning to the rest position on the right side (as viewed from the front). The fix involved taking the printer apart and lubricating the cartridge carrier track and the ramps that lift the cradle that rises to cover the printheads. Unfortunately you have to dismantle the printer and separate the scanner unit to get to the lubrication points. Its not a quick fix.

When you have the printer apart you will see a prominent white lever held by a coiled spring just behind the rest position of the ink cartridge carrier. The lever is actuated by the ink cartridge carrier when it moves to the right. If the lever is not actuated, the motor drive will never engage the large grey feed roller and the paper in the hopper cannot be fed into the printer. Make sure to also put some lube onto the lever at the point where it is struck by the ink cartridge carrier.

Can't print pictures from my laptop. The printer always says paper jam but there isn't one

"Paper Jam" issues are common with printers. They most often occur right after there has been a paper jam. Most people (not necessarily YOU), don't take the time to read how to properly clear a paper jam in their printers and often yank the jammed sheets backward thru the paper tray. Most times you should remove the cover in the back and pull the jam FORWARD out the rear, or if the jam made it close to the output tray, then FORWARD thru to the output tray. Pull sheets backward can cause two issues. It makes tearing the paper easier. This can result in tiny pieces being caught in places where the printer detect them as a jam. The other issue is that pulling backward can damage the feed rollers that pull the paper into the machine, as well as the mechanical sensors that detect paper jams. If you cannot find ANY shards of paper in the machine, you may have printer damage that results in the jam indication.

E3 message on my canon printer

Hello,

E3 error stands for paper jam. Unplug the printer completely from all cables. Lift it up, turn it upside down and shake it a bit to see if anything comes loose. Check the rear access and front access using a flashlight to look for any tiny paper scraps or anything else that could be hard to see. Try forcing a very thick piece of paper into the rollers to see if it dislodges anything. Finally try using a dampened lint free cloth to clean the rollers in the printer.

In case this won't help, then it sounds like a hardware damage. Probably a damaged roller.

My printer is not print it show's paper jam but the paper is not jam

Hello thanks for using Fixya

Actually you are facing E3 error, E3 error is mostly because of paper jam. their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any HP service provider.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

I have a Canon Pixma MP 240 printer. It's been out of black ink. I installed a new ink cartridge. Now, there's an "E3" flashing on the screen. And it won't print anything.

Error E3 indicates that there is a paper jam.

Firstly remove the ink cartridge you have just installed and check to see if there are any bits of paper underneath that.

Secondly check the rest of the printer for any jams paying careful attention to any rollers as small bits of paper can get stuck to them.

When i print any photo it can't print error show E3

hi, look at this post maybe can solved your problem not all Error E3 means your printer part damage but maybe somethings inside it that makes the printer look likes paper jam,
Canon MP198 Printer Error E3 is because something inside of the printer that makes paper sensor not function properly. To fix this error E3 you must open inside of the printer to remove the things.

Look at the paper sensor there is must be somethings in it. I found this when my printer Canon MP198 got error E3. I found small part of paper in the sensor that makes sensor not function properly. I just remove the paper and the printer working again.

Paper jam problem in pixma mp145. E3 error.

hi
just recently had these problems
symptoms:
LED flashing E3 code and alarm light was solid. But dissapeared when opened the coved and came back on when closed the cover.
Also the when the cover was open the inks did not slide out to the left and stayed to the right side.
There was no paper jam, but error said paper jam.

Solution:
1. I took a thick piece of paper, from like a paper folder ones, thick enough to go in the printer and not curl up when pushed..
2. turned off the printer and turned it back on.
3, while printer was turning on,and makings sound as it does normally when turning on, I pushed through the piece of paper and the rotors stoped for a millisecond.
4.the rotors started again and pushed out the paper by it self with out my force.
5. I let the printer get started. and then turned it off and then on.
6. this solved all of my problems.
this was the first problem ever with this printer in 3 years.,preety good printer.

Flashing E3 error code for a paper jam

I had the same problem with my mp 160, Error message was blinking. I tried to print but the printer would take 1/10 of the whole page and stop, even though rollers were moving. My solution for this was to take a piece of thin cardbord(I used a magazine cover), cut it in a size of A4, put it in printer, printed it and when the rollers start moving I forcebly pushed the cardboard through. Now it seems to work fine. Hope it does for you.
