Kodak does not suggest a firmware upgrade through a printer dock. Instead, they recommend using an SD card (memory card).
First:
Click Download, then save the firmware file to your computer desktop.
Double-click the *.exe file. When the WinZip Self-Extractor screen appears, select a folder or accept the default location, then click Unzip. The firmware file unzips to the specified folder.
Note the location of the *.FW file, then close the WinZip Self-Extractor.
Instructions:
If you have pictures/videos on your camera's internal memory or on the memory card, save them to your computer.
Ensure that your camera batteries are fully charged.
Turn off your camera.
Insert the memory card into your computer or into a card reader attached to your computer.
Verify that the memory card has at least 100 MB free space.
On your computer, select the removable drive associated with the memory card or card reader.
If a System folder does not exist on the memory card, create one. From the removable drive window, select File > New > New Folder, then name the new folder System.
Copy the *.FW file from your computer into the System folder.
Remove the memory card from your computer or card reader, then insert it into your camera.
Turn on your camera, then follow the instructions to begin the firmware upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes to complete.
When "Upgrade was successful" appears on the LCD, select Delete Upgrade File to delete the firmware file from the memory card.
Turn off your camera, then turn the camera on to activate the new firmware.
Kodak sells three different package versions of their cameras. You can purchase one of their cameras with an adapter but no dock, with adapter and dock, or with adapter and printer dock. The dock and printer dock are also available on line (try eBay) as accessories. The dock is an extremely handy accessory, allowing automatic charging and computer connection. The printer dock though, at least in my experience, is a cumbersome and unreliable method of obtaining low-quality photos.
if your using a printer dock make sure the ribbon is cleared or not torned., now try to unplug/replug the power cable of the printer dock 2x, then try to print! if its failed download the latest firmware of the printer dock at kodak.com/go/downloads., then you just need to follow the instruction on the website.
If your using a Dock., the dock is not capable of printing! I hope i answered your question Gudluck!
I had the same problem. I tried everything and finally following two fixed the problem:
Dock insert has to be put before inserting Ipod in the dock. Dock insert usually comes with iPod when you buy it....After inserting the doc I was able to hear the sound but it was very faint. Then I updated the ipod's firmware. My Ipod classic was two years old. I updated the firmware by connecting it to the PC and opening itunes. Clicked on 'ipod' link and clicked to update button.
After the update, this ipod started working with my home theater system's DMPort.
I have the same problem where only the bottom half of my photo prints. It worked fine for a long time. I even tried flashing the printer up to the 2.11 firmware version from 1.90 - still nothing. Changed paper and cartridge. NOTHING. Tried attaching it to both my PC & MAC and even print stand alone picture from camera and a SD memory card on the side. NOTHING.
I think the problem is with Kodak... My trouble started when I decided to move my Dock Printer from PC over to MAC. The new drivers have you flash the Firmware. To do this, you first must hold down the Print and Red EYe Button (The button directly to the right of the big print button) with the power cord unplugged and then plug it in holding the buttons in for 2 seconds afterward.
This put the printer into Edit mode and allows the firmware to upgrade the printer. Once I did that, THAT'S when my problem started. I think these crappy printers can NOT self calibrate and they must be factory set. Most likely, they need to do it at the factory themselves and are all to happy to charge you to ship it off and do it for you.
