Trying to do a full factory recovery on an M Series gateway note

I'm trying to do a full factory recovery on my Gateway M series notebook. I've followed the instructions by tapping F8 key repeatedly while my computer is starting. However when the Advanced Boot Options screen comes up, there's no Repair Your Computer Option. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

If you want to do the factory recovery, 3 ways to do the system recovery
First way
1 login to windows
2.click Start
3. click All programs
4. click Gateway
5. click gateway recovery manager
6. click restore
7. select systems recovery to factory defaults

Computer will restart itself and start doing the system recovery itself, All you need to do is follow the screen

Hi,

The F8 key has nothing to do with the factory recovery. It is the key to load the windows diagnostic boot menu for safe mode, repairing windows, etc.

If you want to do a full restore, you either need to bott from disk one of the restore set you made when you first got the laptop or use F11/F10 depending on the install version you have to load the System Angel recovery partition.

Alternately if the System Angel won't load and you can still boot windows you can use the gateway recovery manager in either PC Help and Tools Menu, or System Recovery menu in the All Programs list in your start menu.

If you do not have the disks and none of the above options work you will have to phone Gateway and order a restore set for about $40.00.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

The F8 key will bring you to the windows diagnostic boot menu; however there is one additional option as opposed to regular windows screens.
Top of the list (looks more like a header)
"Repair your Computer"

You can use this to enter gateway's recovery console.

Hope this helps

Gateway Recovery Center Not working After reboot.

LOL, it figures, I've seen the recovery fail more times than not. You may be better off trying to boot up into Safe Mode and do a System Restore to a point and time before you had problems. If you can't get System Restore to work then your only other option is to Reinstall Windows.

MT6707 Widescreen Notebook PC (1014360R) PC Notebook: I WANT TO RESTORE A USED GATEWAY MT6707 BACK TO FA...

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps:
Turn Off the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

If the above mentioned steps are not working then you need an RCD to do so. Contact the Gateway support.

Freezes half way threw system adding devices

If you made your recovery discs, then call up gateway and tell them you have defective discs, they will send you the factory install discs for free, try them and I bet you will have better results....Restore discs you make yourself are extreemly picky and are easliy ruined if something happens while youo are burning them (someone sends you an IM or email, windows auto updates) with all the hidden processes running in the background any one of them could have caused a glitch while you were making recovery cd's

I cant get my gateway mt3705 to format, only three options setup available for boot menu, boot seq, setup and psx boot menu..no recovery disc either what do i do?

To delete everything on your hard drive and re-install all factory software: 1 If you can still run Windows: a Click Start, All Programs, Gateway Recovery Center, then click Gateway Recovery Center. The Gateway Recovery Center opens. b Click Recovery, then click Next. Your computer restarts. - OR - 2 If you cannot run Windows: a Turn on or restart your computer. b While the computer is starting up, repeatedly press F8 until the Recovery Options screen opens. If Windows starts to load instead, restart the computer and try again. 3 Press the arrow keys on your keyboard to select Repair Your Computer, then press ENTER. Gateway System Recovery starts, and the System Recovery Options dialog box opens. 4 Select a language and keyboard layout, then click Next. 5 Click the User name box to select a Windows user account, click in the Password box and type the user account’s password (if any), then click Next. The System Recovery Options menu opens. 6 Click Restore Application. The Welcome to Gateway System Recovery window opens. 7 Click Next. 8 To perform a recovery with data backup (recommended), click Recovery with automatic data backup, then click Next. Important Before your hard drive is recovered, your personal files will be automatically backed up to c:\backup. - OR - To perform a full factory recovery without data backup, click Full factory recovery, then click Next. Caution Continuing with the full factory recovery will delete everything on your hard drive. Make sure that you have backed up any important files you want to save. 9 Click Yes, then click Next. The Factory image recovery window opens, which shows you the progress of the system recovery. When recovery is finished, the Recovery is complete window opens. 10 Click Finish, then click Restart. Your computer restarts in its original factory condition. You still need to reinstall any software that was not pre-installed on your computer. If you selected Recovery with automatic data backup in Step 8, you can find your backed up files in c:\backup.
