Sound like you are having a start up problem. Try this method. When you start the computer keep pressing FFelon your keyboard until you see a screen pop up asking what you want to do. Use the up and down keys on the keyboard to check use last known good start up.
If this fails repeat this again and then click on run dinosticts. If it asks you later to use system restore check yes. If all failes you may need to redownload widows again if you don't have the widows installation disk. However if you do have the disk that came with the computer. Start with that and use it to restore your computer loading drivers for your computer. And load fix my computer. I hope that this helps you somehow.

My computer doesnt show the factory reset

The only factory reset on a computer is in the BIOS, which you select after it shows the manufacturers logo or name. It will usually display the key to press and say SETUP. On Dell is F2, some are the Delete key.

Windows 8 will also do a factory reset which will pretty much do a clean install like when it was first installed.

If you do a reset on the BIOS and your Windows does not come up and possible blue screens with a STOP error, go back into the BIOS and on the drive type, switch it from AHCI to ATA. It should then boot fine.

I turn on my computer and i get a dell start up screen. and in the bottom right hand corner it says press f2 for setup or f12 for boot options.. then it goes to a black screen that says "media test...

Hi. Try these simple steps: Restart your computer and press F8 when you see the Dell Screen. In the advanced Windows Option, choose Last Know-Good Configuration and press Enter. If nothing happens and you didn't boot to windows, you may need to reset the system back to factory image.

To do that, Do the first 2 steps if you're using Vista. If you're using Windows XP, on the Dell logo, Press Ctrl+F11 to boot from the recovery partition. Follow the instructions to recover system back to factory image.

Hope it helps!

How do I reset my Gateway LT20 Netbook Series back to the factory settings?

Very simple! You need to go into Cmos for the setup which is usualy F2 on boot. Once in the setup you go to the end page whwere it asks you if you want to restore factory defaults. Simply click on it then press save and exit. If F2 does not work on the boot to access Cmos setup then look at the screen as it starts to boot and it will usualy tell you what function key is for setup. Good luck Phil

Asus EEE PC 900A Linux- boot problem after downloading updates

Consider downloading a specific release of Ubuntu; eeebuntu. Download the ISO and then conenct an external DVD device to it, during the BIOS screen, choose the ESC button and boot from the external device.
This Ubuntu-specific group offers three kinds of ISO's (simple, super basic, and a loaded release), all of which allow all parts to work out of the box:

If this does not work, check the informal eeepc forums
