How do I stop Excel from opening up when I turn the volume down?
I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1233se laptop (the white special edition one), and every time I try to use the touch-tone buttons (volume, play, stop, turn wireless on/off, etc.) it works, but it also opens up Microsoft Excel 2007. How can I stop this?

I don't have your model but the symptoms point to the "hotkeys" or "quick launch" buttons have changed from their original settings. There could be a few solutions. First, check this link for help from HP:
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.
- Provide details, support with references or personal experience.

Power drain would be a better solution in this case. 1.first shut down the comp 2.unplug the charger 3. remove the battery and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .
Take off the plastic strip above the keyboard, as if to replace keyboard. You will see 2 small wires running from the volume control strip to the left. Make sure they are properly plugged in, and that neither is touching the foil used to ground the laptop. Replace the strip. I have had this on 2 HP laptops, and in both instances it was making contact.
you can try fixing the problem by diting your registry.
1. go to your desktop.
2. on your keyboard, hit the "windows key" (between ALT an CTRL) together with the "R"
3. a little box should pop up. In the box, type "regedit" and press enter.
4. registry editor should open up. (it looks something like windows explorer)
5. navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.VbaAddinForOutlook.1 6. Right click on the "Microsoft.VbaAddinForOutlook.1" and delete it. 7. close registry editor, 8. restart PC and run outlook!
Not sure if this is whats up with your laptop but there is a recall on the dv6000. The following link has more details on whether your laptop is one of those affected. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&docname=c01087277&product=1842155
it seems you have a problem with the inverter, of your LCD, im afraid you need to bring the unit to a repair shop, no other way around it, you need a tech guy to thoroughly inspect the unit,
either the Liquid crystal display is defective nor the inverter.
