Is the power cord for Thinkpad T410 and T420 interchangeable

Can you plug a monitor into the external Video connector, and do you see a display there? If you see a display on the external monitor, then the LCD is most likely bad.

Try to restart the computer. Lenovo computers can be glitchy a lot, and restarting seems to help. If it's a touch screen, the computer can be "confused" on which mode of input you're using.

What is your question about the EEPROM?

Hi, try removing the battery pack then use the AC adapter or power cord alone. If still the same. Eject the battery and also remove from outlet hang on for 10 minutes. Then try to turn it on again with AC adapter alone

I would return the laptop, there maybe something bigger that needs to be addressed. What you are describing is not normal.
