Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD. Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD. Might be a defective hdd aswell, in this case to make sure you can run a DFT test, www.google.com -> Look up for " Test DFT " ( Drive fitness tool from hitachi, will make an hardware diag if hdd failure - error code 0x00 = everything fine, other code = Issue - You can look up for accurate code explanation on hitachi website ) thanks and have a nice day J-

This could be a problem, not sure if its a software related or if the hard drive is bad. If you can find a windows xp cd. Try and wipe out the hard drive and install windows xp on it. If it goes thru then you'll just need the drivers. If it errors out on you then you know its a problem with the hard drive and you'll need to replace it. If you get windows xp installed on it, let me know and I'll help you with the drivers.

basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines
Following these steps may help resolving your issue

1. Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
3. Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
5.Try using a different telephone cord.
6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.

Solution

Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

Error code 2010 is definitely hard drive problem.

If in the primary bay the customer is using a non-IBM or non-Lenovo hard disk drive (HDD), or an old generation IBM HDD which is not supported by this system, with the risk in mind, the customer can still use it by pressing ESC. If in the primary drive bay the customer is using a supported IBM/Lenovo HDD with an old firmware, the customer needs to update its firmware to the latest. I'd do a few things. Reseat the RAM, this is easy and could be messed up..

I'm worried that there was a short or some other issue that damaged a component on the main board. I'd try to follow the Power On Self Test (POST) error codes from above, or google it more to see if you can find your exact symptom. If you are still getting beeps, you should be able to determine exactly what is wrong.

These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area are old or if noise is present (static on the phone line). Other reasons could be power outages and other power-related problems.
