Door switch is bad or a fuse blew out inside the microwave cover housing. Switch is most common.

My GeE Profile model #PEB1590SM2SS microwave isn’t working. The turntable spins when the door is open, but it won’t spin or heat anything up during operation.

First, I'm not a GE tech
* STOP!
* Door opened should turn off all power except the display. This is a safety measure,
* Unplug and DO NOT use!
* Check warranty. Call for service.
* Check with store or vendor for replacement.

How to replace handle bar in a glass door?

I would be very careful when working on the microwave oven casing as these are insulated to reduce radiation leakage during operation. It is hard to know how the door handle fits your oven as there is no make and model number provided. Usually these are press oven type levers that are interlocked into a latch that is closed during operation to avoid accidental opening of the door. If you provide more details in the comment field someone on Fixya may be able to give you a solution for your door handle.

My nn-s963bf starts operating when door is opened

The electronics have lost their marbles. When a nuker door is opened the safety switch connected to the door is designed to turn the unit off and not on. You just better work fast when you put stuff in or take it out!!!!!!!

Microwave not turning off when door opened during operation

It is likely a bad door switch or mount. See the help file here.

On some models, the door switches, fuses, and TCOs / thermal cutouts / thermostats must be checked, too. See photo below.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit - behind the back, behind the control panel, or hidden on the left side behind the grille - which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Microwave will not turn on. if you hold door just right it will sometimes. door bent? bad switch?

Bad switch alignment. Some models can have an adjustment. Look carefully at the latch for any sign of damage. There are three switdhes that must simultaneously be activated, or the oven won't work. If, during the operation of the oven, the door is opened and the switches DONT simultaneously trigger, the monitor switch will detect this condition and short the incoming power directly to ground, which will blow the internal fuse, and possibly also trip the circuit breaker.

Interior bulb needs to be replaced. What needs to be removed to gain access? Thanks

Advantium - Interior Light Operation While Microwaving

The Advantium 240 oven interior (cavity) light will illuminate anytime the door is open. However, due to the dark tint on the oven door, there is not a light on while cooking since the food would not be visible using the interior lamp.
Food may be viewed during a microwave cycle by pressing the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

One of the Upper Level Speedcook lamps will come on for 5 seconds. The Microwave/Oven Light pad can be pressed up to 5 times during a microwave cooking cycle. The limit of 5 times is to prevent excessive heat on microwave cookware from the Speedcook lamp.

The Advantium 120 oven cavity is illuminated anytime the door is opened and while the unit is in the microwave only mode. As a result it will not have the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

If the light is not operating properly, you will want to have it checked by an authorized service technician. To obtain in or out of warranty repair on Major Appliances, you may call 1-800-GE-CARES (800-432-2737) or schedule service online.

Door was not closing right so i was measing with the uper switch now i have lost all of the power to the microwave. Is the switch bad or did i break the entire thing

you messed up the safety interlok switch on the door by adjusting it, that is to blow the internal fuse in the event the door is opened during operation, you need to re-adjust the door safety interlok switch, then replace the fuse and you should be back on track and running

Turntable operation

I would suggest that you check the door switches and mounts. Here is a file to help: http://www.microwavedisplay.com/doorsw.txt

If those check out, I would suspect a shorted relay or shorted relay-driving transistor.

You may be able to find a schematic of the control unit at the Sears parts site. (They are closed during overnight hours CST)

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.
