Sparks when cooking

Make sure no metal item (forks-spoons or oven rack) is touching the outer wall of the microwave. That will cause sparks. If all that is OK then there is usually a metal fan type blade in the microwave top called a stirrer blade that may be out of place and rubbing the cavity causing sparks. Try to pin point the spark area so you know where to look for the problem. Sparks usually mean metal is touching metal somewhere.

Viking vmos200 sparking

If there is spark please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is leaking and sparking to the ground. As you have mentioned it was stored, it is quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron.
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
Now switch the microwave power on and use a cup of water to test.
If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. Replace with same type. If not check the waveguides within the cabin for food particles that can burn and spark, check for rust that can corrode and spark when the ceramic paint has worn out.
If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

When I use my microwave, it seems it was spark happening when I use it. I'm afraid to test it again. Please tell me how I should know it's safe to use

2 things cause sparks.... a damaged Waveguide RF window or bare metal inside the cooking area. If you note bare metal you can sand and paint it with an appliance enamel paint. (no lead paint!) Just make sure to only sand the area your painting as any sanding scuffs not painted will hasten a repeat performance of the sparking routine. The RF will bounce off bare metal and cause the sparking. Once PROPERLY painted it no longer sparks.

If it is coming from the area of the Waveguide RF window... Make sure the window is replaced before next use.

Hello! Everytime I start my Whirlpool microwave, it makes a loud crackling noise and I'm worried it's going to start sparking. Is there any way to fix this issue, or is it shot?

The cracking spound is the spark jumping. so if there is spark please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is leaking and sparking to the ground. As you have mentioned it was stored, it is quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
Now keeping clear switch on , use a cup of water inside to test.
If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.

Popping and shooting sparks

Hi There!
Check behind the "Wave Guide Cover" on the inside cavity. There may be moisture or food residue behind it. Should be a cover that is plastic or Mica. Really strange that it's sparking being new. Also check that you use plates without gold or silver trimmings (Crockery or porcelein). This will also cause sparking. Remember that microwaves will always go to the first organic source in its path. The wave guide cover, if soiled, is very close to the tip of the Magnetron and will therefor result in arcing. Good Luck, JUS004

Sharp selling bad microwaves

paddy paddy paddy i want i want, bet you were spoiled as a child, never continue to use a microwave that sparks, you can only do more damage to the appliance and maybe even worse is this sparking when you use it under normal conditions, place a plastic bowl with cold water in and see if it sparks then, if not then is it something you have done, i assume you know what you can not put in a microwave if sparking occurs anyway, and its only 6 months old, is it under guarantee, then its simple, send it back and ask for free replacement SHOUT AT THE RIGHT PEOPLE DON'T WASTE TIME ON HERE
