SOURCE: Snowblower seems weak for a 5HP

Check to see if there any surface rust inside the auger assembly. This will cause this problem. Also, you try a silicone spray on a painted surface.

SOURCE: I have an Ariens 926LE

Hi, The blower spins at full speed? If it does the belt, pulley, and shaft are good. Look at the shaft from the fan to the gear box while it's running and that shaft should be turning at the speed of the fan.
If the blower spins at full speed and the auger doesn't the most likely problem is the worm gear transmission from the blower shaft to the auger shaft.
A good way to visually inspect this is: With the machine turned off and the spark plug wire unhooked go to the front and try to rotate the auger by hand. If the gear box is good you will only be able to move the auger less than an inch. If the box is bad you will be able to move the auger a lot farther. While you are there recheck your shear pins.
You can also remove the blower drive belt and have someone turn the pulley by hand while you watch the auger. Put resistance on the auger with your gloved hand. If the box is good the auger will move smoothly in you hand. If it is bad, it will ****, move roughly, or stop.
While the other person is turning the pulley and you have some resistance on the auger look closely at the shaft running from the gearbox back to the blower. On some models there is a connecting sleeve and the roll pin that connects the sleeve to the shaft and gearbox will break.
If the gearbox is bad, it will have to be replaced as a complete unit.

SOURCE: Snowblower doesn't throw the snow

The most common cause of this is the drive belt is worn.
If you remove the cover (usually plastic) in the middle of the snow thrower and look at the belts.
Your operator's manual will show you how to remove the cover and check/change the belts.
The belt closest to the blower assembly drives the auger/blower and the belt closest to the engine drives the transmission.
With the engine not running, have someone depress the drive lever and check the blower belt.
You should only be able to depress the long side 1/2 inch or less. More than that the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced.
On some older blowers you can adjust the tension pulley, but most made in the last 15 years, you can't.
The belt may be frayed on the edges or glazed causing it to slip (it is shiny on the sides of the belt) It may be torn and broke completely.
You can get parts for you Craftsman and most Husqvarana, MTD made models through searspartsdirect.com. You can also get parts through jackssmallengines.com or your local dealer.
If you are unfamiliar with repairing machines take it to your local dealer. They will have a technician troubleshoot and repair the unit.
Feel free to ask any other questions to troubleshoot this problem farther. I know Snow Blowers. Please remember to rate this answer!

SOURCE: my troy bilt snowblower 4510

This machine has pins to hold the wheels to the axle. The pins may be out and allow for a "free wheel " mode. Check that these pins are locking the axle to the wheel. If so the problem is between the wheels and the drive belt.
I recommend using a local lawn mower shop like arco lawn equipment Joe

I have a new Troy Bilt Snowblower. My father ran over a large extension cord while blowing snow, which in turned wrapped the cord around the auger shaft ends. I can now only get one side of the auger to...

Your snowblower has 4 shear pins keeping the front auger safe. Use the manual to locate them if you are unsure where they are and how to change them. Since your snowblower is new I am going to assume you have the manual.
Your snowblower came with 2 spare shearpins. Check up by the handles and see if they are still there. If you don''t have them go to your local Lowes, Sears, or MTD repair shop to get new ones. DO NOT USE STANDARD BOLTS!

The drive shaft coming out of the gear box is one, solid piece all the way across the snowthrower so if one side is turning there is a 95% chance it's the shear pins.

Troy-bilt 5524 snowblower - the drive wheels are locked. Pulled it apart and everything turns but when all gears are in place wheels won't turn - If I move the small gear from the drive it works but goes...

The outermost large gear has 'needle' bearings that will over time get snow, salt grim caught in them and they freeze up. Remove the gear and intially work some WD-40 into the bearings with your fingers. Mine loosed up fairly easy. Continue adding WD-40 to kind of rinse away the grim. Then, dry it out with a rag. I added some lithium (white) grease and worked it good before replacing. Once replaced, it will spin like a top!

My troy-bilt 8.5 horse 26 inch wide snowblower wont move anymore.

Take the belt cover off that covers the drive pulley on the engine. You should only have to loosen two bolts. Inspect the belt to see what it looks like. I am not sure if it drives a gear box or if it turns a friction wheel that drives the wheels. If the belt looks good check for shear bolts that might have sheared off and replace them.
