Hi, is this scanner obsolete?

danval, I looked up a pic of your scanner and it is pretty straightforward. If it is the 16 channel I was looking at, here is the step by step programming.
1- Push manual button to go to the channel you want to start programming.
2- Enter the freq number in.
3- Push the E button to enter it in the memory.
4- To review what you programmed, push the Review button.
5- Use manual button to step to next channel and start over from #2
That should get you started with the scanning hobby.
The scanner has a Priority button that when activated will stop scanning and go immediatly to the priority channel if someone keys their mic.
If you need freq's (or more of) for your area, go here and click on your state and county and it'll give you a complete listing.

If it's indeed a BC-100 and not a BC-100xlt, the 16 channels are easy to program and use.
1. Press MANUAL 3 MANUAL with 3 being the number of the channel you wish to program.
2. Enter the frequency for that channel (e.g., 162.55) followed by ENTER.
3. Follow the same sequence for each channel you wish to program, except that pressing MANUAL after you program a channel will advance the scanner to the next channel.
To scan, simply press the SCAN button after your frequencies are programmed.

Here's the link for your manual It's 3.71mb http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC60XLT-1om.pdf . The manual is written for "People" not "engineers" If you still have problems, post a reply and I can help further. Hope this helps
