Engine cuts out

I have a 4 cylinder Ford Kent engine race car fitted with an MSD Rev Limiter set at 8000RPM. If I come into a hairpin hot and change down to second gear when I go to power out the engine without any warning has gone dead. This is a recurring problem and is only eliminated by disconnecting the rev limiter. Is there some feature of this unit that causes this? There appears to be no other electrical explanation. I am running a new Ignitor 2 electronic ignition. Any advice please? Thank you, Brian.

It sounds like you have a two stage system like when a drag car does its burn out it has one programed rpm limit then when you stage the computer knows to change to a different limit .read the paper work that came with it and she if it does have a two stage program .

96 Riviera.. just replaced blower coupler, fuel pump and fuel filter now acts like it's hitting the rev limiter at 3800 rpm...

Hello. It seems your Buick's engine is 'flooded' with gas in one or more cylinders. This will cause the engine to 'race' because of a fire in one or more cylinders. The engine gets to high rpm and stays there; this is not good! Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Polaris predator 500 Is there a way to reduce speed/power?

Ive attached a video, but you can do this mechanically by adjusting your throttle linkage(but it may not be enough). I'd suggest making a "stop" or a mechanism to physically stop the throttle from opening up on the engine end at the carburetor or throttle body. You must add something to interfere with your engine being able to "open up", I'd reduce it so that it only opens up 15%-20% which will severely limit performance.

Another option is to add an aftermarket Rev Limiter like a MSD unit, or find any rev limiter compatible with CDI ignition and a Single Cylinder, that'll work and you can limit it to whatever rpm you prefer at the turn of a dial! I had to do this to a motorcycle and a drag car and used a simple adjustable rev limiter to keep others from mulling themselves or blowing my motor up!

Honda accord making a whining sound and loss of power

Ok I need some clarification here. Is it surging/chugging when accelerating? Is it having shifting issues? All the time? Or do you mean it misfires/cuts out at high rpm? (I assume you know there's a rev-limiter that will cut cylinders to keep engine from over-revving). What rpm does it cut out? Is it happening intermittently, or constantly? Also, is the car modified/raced and what condition is the engine/powertrain? Do you have mostly stock Honda tune-up parts in it? Honda's don't perform to their potential with cheap aftermarket plugs/wires/ etc. installed. Start with the basics here. Check the ignition system, fuel system/pressure, etc. Could be bad fuel too. Did you fill up at a small rural no-name station recently? Good luck.

Car stuttering

The rev limiter kicks in at about 6800 RPM to prevent "coast over" to unsafe revs, so I suggest you have a custom programmed PCM that eliminated the rev limiter feature or moves up the RPM limit.

WhenI push the gas pedal to accelerate the engine cuts out and the cars jumps almost the way a rev limiter cuts out the engine, but the longer the car runs the worse the idling gets until the engine cuts...

The first thing I would check is the engine coolant temperture sensor. Check for codes. Check the air and fuel filters. All of these will cause your symptoms. Let me know and we can go from there

Engine cuts at 10000rpm

this is your rev limiter kicking in, is it affecting your ability to gain speed? although it aseems to be kicking in a bit premature. maybe your tach is off and its a normal rev limiter. if not try to change your plugs and fuel filter and air filter
