When I bought my 2007 Merc Mariner it read faulty tire sensor. Does this have something to do with the and ab.s. light and 4wd?

faulty tire sensor is your tire pressure sensor --not tied to abs or 4wd --have vehicle scanned for trouble codes

Noisy Tire Solution

2005 Mercury Mariner noisy tires solution. Take tires off rim and turn inside out. My dealer recommended this and 50% of the noise went away immediately with more expected in the next 1,000 miles. This was my second set of tires with only approximately 30,000 miles and noise I could no longer tolerate. Hope this tip helps someone else.

2008 Equinox has excessive road noise between 45 & 55 mph. Loud in general but really loud at speed.

Road noise is usually related to your tires. I would go to a tire shop and have them check it out. If your alignment and tire condition in general are good it might be the stiffness or aggressiveness of the tread.

Tire noise on mercury mariner so so loud, is there a better tire than the continental contitrac 235x70?

Tires offer a number of trade-offs. Loud tires provide superior tread wear and a harsher ride, are loud. Soft tires provide a smooth ride, quiet operation and usually fewer miles.

Please go see your Goodyear or Firestone or Continental (or other major brand) tire professional and discuss your concerns with him or her to find the best tire for your application and driving style.

Loud rubber - rubbing noise when steering

first you may want to check that all your wheels are properly aligned.
if they are then your tires need to be changed because of the wear and tear
if you don't want to change all four tires you can change the two front ones and have the ones which were up front installed at the rear
but it is preferable to change all four

Tire Noise

Just had dealer suggest turnng tires inside out on rims. I experienced at least 60% immediate noise reduction. Unfortunately, wasn't aware of this trick with the first set. This was second set of tires with only 30,000 miles and intolerable noise. Dealer says more improvment in next 1,000 miles driving. I saved buying a third set of tires with only a total of 73,000 miles. Hope this information helps someone else.
