Monarch sewing machine manual

I cant get the foot to lift when I try the lever, there seems to be a problem inside where it slides up, if I use tweezers to pull the rod to the left it clears the guide and the foot will lift, I need to know if there is an adjustment in there that I can make to fix this simply problem, it's a new machine , the book as you know tells you NOTHING !

Light dims when you sew

the problem is that the cord that was replaced on it is too light for the sewing machine. some companies sell cords that are made with 18awg wire 18awg wire can only deliver enough electricity to run the motor sapping up all of the power from the light as soon as you push the pedal. you need to get a cord made by singer or rewire your cords with 16awg wire... 16awg wire is the standard wire for all vintage singer sewing machines it keeps the light nice and bright...... hope this helps
