Is it possible that the de humidifier has soaked up all the water in the room

I doubt that would be possible with a consumer grade dehumidifier even if you sealed off the room so that no more air could get in. In a normal house you constantly have more moisture coming in with the air.

I have an older NY apt. with radiator heat for winter. In summer, there is no A/C, but cold water runs thru pipes and blower fan "cools" the apt. (No idea what this system is called). It gets...

if anything a dehumidifier. But before that, sounds like the building has 1 heating system , and no zone control, for the building. What you really need to do in this case is to shut the water line off before it hits the radiator. If not then close the valve on the radiator, it should look like a basic outdoors spicket knob. But if all else fails, get a dehumidifier.

A humidifier will not collect any water. A humidifier has a tank that you fill with water. The water is released / forced into dry air to make it moist, usually by a fan or ultrasonic method.

A dehumidifier has an empty tank that gets filled by the appliance extracting moisture from the air. The tank will have to be manually emptied periodically, otherwise the safety / water level switch will shut the unit off so that the tank doesn't over flow.

I suspect that you meant to say dehumidifier.. and if so, please provide the manufacturer's name and model. The "P2" indication will be difficult to interpret without knowing the manufacturer's info.

Does not dehumidify

Hello. I am here to help. Let me begin by saying that a dehumidifier only needs to be operated if the humidity in your home is too high. If the humidity is low, the humidifier will have to work really hard to try and remove water from it.

Here is an overview of how the dehumidifier is supposed to work:

When the unit runs, the circulating fan and compressor also run. The fan continually draws room air over the evaporator coils, which are cold, and then over the condenser coils, which are warm. Because the evaporator coils are cold, the moisture in the room collects on them--just as the outside of a glass of icy liquid "sweats" on a warm, humid day. When the moisture on the coils increases, it drips off of the coils into the collection container.

The air then flows over the warm condenser coils and out into the room. This process removes water from the air and, because of the heat from the fan motor and compressor motor, the exiting air is somewhat warmer, as well as dryer.
