Totype the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterlingpound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. You can have a lookat this site where it lists ways to type currency symbols.

Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on thenumeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Altkey.

My key board is doing weird things in yahoo mail, e.g. when I'm trying to do pound symbol it makes a # but I can do a pound symbol in word/excel etc...???? Other keys are also affected. Thanks

This is because it is set to US english keyboard layout rather than UK English layout.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Keyboard

and change the language settings

Need to have the ability to use the symbol for the (UK) pound

I found this, hope it will help you:

To type the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterling pound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. You can have a look at this site where it lists ways to type different currency symbols:
http://www.fonts.com/fontent/fontent_home.asp?nCo=AFMT&con=fyti_currency

Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.

There were also past discussion in the forums, such as:

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

The pound symbol

I am unable to answer your problem that why you are not getting the required symbol if it is there (Hope that you are pressing the no. 3 with Shift key pressed).
But if you need a Pound sign you can get it by pressing 0163 key from the right side numeric keypad while pressing the alt key (i.e. alt+0163).
Remember that you cannot use the upper number key for this purpose.
