Cant clear code or use oven after small power surge - stove top still works. GE web site does not have a F81 code they have an F8 and F1 which both say problem with keypad and electronic control needs to...

You didn't post model, but with a surge you probably looking at replacing the ERC. Does the manual say to unplug to reset, or check again on reset the control.

Some have this for reset, can't hurt to try.

  • Press the BAKEand BROIL HI/LO pads at the same time for 3-5 seconds until the display shows SF.

  • Press the COOKTIME and BROIL HI/LO button (on some models press Broil only, refer to your use and care manual). The display should show C. Press the button again until F shows in the display.

  • Press START to complete the change.
  • If this clears control, do it again to reset to Fahrenheit.

This way actually resets for a error also besides temp.

You can check the price of a control here,

And you can google search for more places to shop prices.

    I cannot turn it on

I actually am having the same problem with my old microwave. Mine also turns on when I open the door too (not sure if this happens for you though).

Anyway, to fix the problem of it not turning on (I wasn't seeing any numbers on my machines display, but the machine DID have power, so hopefully yours does too). All I did to fix mine was: I started pressing buttons on the keypad (my machine is digital and I assume your machine is also). Not just any keys though, press the function keys (usually toward the top of the keypad). It might be necessary to do this quite a bit. Also, don't just press one key over and over, try pressing random/different function keys with each press. It overrides the computer inside the microwave and in the process any issues which are keeping the programming from functioning properly (aka: numbers being displayed onto the screen). If and when the problem is fixed, you should be able to press your clear button and then it should function properly.

So to sum it up, the machine is probably getting power, but [probably because its old] the internal computer more than likely has issues (software and/or hardware issues) as can be expected with older machines like this. This is just a temporary fix though, you really need a new machine (at least that's my case). Its just old and needs replaced more than likely.

On the window where it shows the clock time, it showed error E0 F2. The stove top works but the oven stop from working. All the digital numbers and all keypad entry was not functioning. For the whole time...

    1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
    2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock). Follow the link for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model.

Your error code is for a stuck keypad. You can try pressing every button at random several times each to unstick.'
When the control board is changed on these ovens the keypad assembly is supposed to be changed also.

Double oven. Top is digital. It has started

You have a stuck keypad or a bad electronic oven control. Try pressing all buttons at random several times each to unstick a faulty pad. If that does not work the EOC must be replaced.

My oven won't start. no display, only beeps on certain functions

Hi, the actual circuit that is open is the cancel key connection. Here is a check list that will help. I would consider replacing the ERC if the control is integrated.

    Please rate and god bless:)
