May be too much info blocking up print memory. Before printing off sites, make sure you clear print queue and slect printer friendly versions. Check to see if your printer has a work online or offline setting in preferences too.

The definition corresponding to this error message is this: "The print carrier stopped before all of the data was used." To resolve this issue, please do the following:

  1. Power the printer off.
  2. Remove all cables from the back of the printer.
  3. Reinsert the power cord.
  4. Switch the printer back on.
  5. Check the operator panel to see if the 1201 error message is displayed.
  6. If the error message returns, the printer could be defective. Contact Lexmark Customer Support for further troubleshooting and warranty options.

Hi !!

Try this ---

take out the ink cartridges from printer
Take a tissue paper and make it damp with water
Then CLean the bottom part of cartridge where you see some golden contacts , just wipe it off with damp tissue .

Check if there is any ink coming on the tissue or not .
If No ink coming out , may be u forgot to pull out the protective tape or there is no ink inside the cartridge

Let me know what happens

SOURCE: printer not printing

In this case what i would request u to do is....... Take out both the catridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry........... Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the catridge from where the ink comes out....... Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds...... Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same way........ Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel.......... Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer the Colour Catridge should go in the right side and the black on the left........ Unplug the Power Supply from the printer....... Press and hold the Stop/Clear button on the Printer and Plug in the Power Supply while holding the Stop/Clear button it should say clearing on the screen at that point u can go ahead and release the Stop/Clear button.......... Now the Printer will ask for the Date Time and Country Language......... Set everything up...... Now try to Print i am sure it should work.......... Good Luck............

you need to reset the printer using the # and the number 6 buttons and while holding down the buttons plug in the power cord.See if it works else try the same with # and the number 9.

Unable to print or make copies even after replacing ink

Not enough info. What, when, etc., etc., etc. OEM or refill cartridges? What was error msg before replacement. What is msg now? Did you clean contacts?

When I make copies or transmit a fax, it makes a 3/4" black line down the left side. I have cleaned ink cartridges and contacts but does not help.

The line is probably not from the ink cartridges or nozzles (assuming regular printing doesn't streak). Streaks on copies and transmitted faxes are usually due to dirt or problems on the scanner unit. First clean the flat bed of the scanne. If you have an automatic document feeder, clean that.

Clean with a lint free cloth moistened with a little water or glass cleaner. Make sure no foreign objects are in the ADF path or on the glass. For pictures see the Lexmark support site: http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=product&linkSelected=node0&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US#1. Then enter "streak on copy" - the solution comes up in a pop up.

If the streak is shrinking, then copy a blank white piece of paper to identify where to clean further. Try scanning another page with a small mark on it. (These are particularly helpful for cleaning the ADF.)

If the mark occurs when you print, then check if you have a damaged cartridge or other ink that has spilled inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

My LEXMARK x4270 won't print. I replaced both ink cartridges and when I tried to print or copy, the paper comes out blank.

Did yo remember to remove the protective tape from the cartridges. Are the cartridges in their correct locations and are they firmly seated in their receptacles?

I have a Lexmart X4270 Printer Copier. I replaced the print cartridge but it still doesn't print.

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

Purchased lexmark x4270 all in one scanner copy fax product, set up two days ago, will not print. All lights are on, when i try to print from computer, paper goes thru but no info prints. HELP!!!!!!

If the unit is new, look for anything that may have been placed in
or around the carriage to protect it during shipping. Also the tape
across the ink cartridge may still be in place. If so, pull out the cartridge
and remove the tape. That's what my prob was when I first got my
all in one.

Won't print or copy

If printer was idle for weeks, even if "relativly new", run cleaning in control panel/printers and faxs/maintanence.
If still inoperative contact manufactor, see about support or warrenty claim. Not to bash lexmark but, the cheaper of their printers work the best, the costly ones like the all-in-one I bought from them, was used for three months, I hated it and threw it out.(cost $300.00)

Wont print text

Clean your black printheads tobyss. Remove cartridges. Using cotton buds and proper cleaning solution, clean where the cartridges sit in, until no colour comes away. Press a babywipe (unscented) firmly on bottom of cartridge where ink comes out. Replace cartridges. Print again. Run printers own cleaning solutions too.
