Asusr5o3u keyboard wont work

there may be many reasons:- (i) your keyboard may be disabled.
sol- there are few hotkeys to disable both touchpad and keyboard. you may have pressed that hotkey and your keyboard disabled. if you will press that key again then it will be again enabled.

(ii) your keyboard's internal chip may be dead.
sol- you have to claim it's warranty to get it repaired.
(iii) your keyboard's drivers may be corrupted.
sol- sometimes keyboard's drivers are crashed due to some reasons. you can download new keyboard's drivers from its manufacturer's website. driver size will be nearly 100 to 200KB. also you can restore all keyboard default settings from device manager.
(iv) your keyboard may be damaged.
sol- no way to repair, you have to change your keyboard.

I reprogrammed my MESSENGER hot key for another purpose at one time. That purpose no longer exists and I can't remember how to get access to change it back Keyboard Model 1031

If you're trying to set a hotkey on a new keyboard just go to it's settings and change it's hotkey. Don't worry about the old one.

I would like to change the screen brightness on my Tecra 8200 laptop, but can't find HELP on how to do this. Is there a 'hotkey'? Where can I get hotkey descriptions, if they exist?

Normally there's a Function button (Fn) and you can use that in conjunction with the brightness buttons on the keyboard (looks like a sun on most)

Hotkey

you may have a faulty keyboard driver, go to my computer icon, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then go down list to keyboards, click + sign, right click on your keyboard type and select uninstal. Restart notebook and the keyboard will be installed automatically again and should work, if not, make sure you have the latest drivers. If still not working then there is a hardware fault, but i doubt it as the software is reporting the button is being pressed.
