SOURCE: Alpine cd redeiver CDA 7837

Just a guess, I’d say who ever installed it didn’t hook up the connector behind it. But lets say they did. In most cases, the radio’s connector bundle will have a fuse. It’s a good idea to check your car’s fusebox first to see if any fuses are blown there. In either case, if you replace a blown fuse with "the right value", and it blows again, have a tech check it out. Note that if you try to get to the rear of the unit, do a little research into how the radio is accessed through the dashboard. Most car radios aren’t quickies to get at and some folks can do damage trying to get at it, but if you methodically take logical steps, you should be able to pull the radio, check the connectors, locate the fuse if it has one. Of course, there may be a wiring incompatibility, meaning, the OEM radio had it’s own specific wiring harness, the Alpine was installed, but someone didn’t get the adapter harness to fit the car. Who knows. Good luck. TekTrax

SOURCE: alpine cda 9884 has no sound in cd or ipod mode

actually, chrysler/dodge has factory Infinity sound systems installed. The nice part about these systems is that you dont have to bypass the amplifiers in order to put a new radio in, but simply power up the amp by hooking up the amp turn on wire at the harness. The alpine should have 2 blue wires coming off of the back, one that is solid, the other with a white stripe. The one that is solid only has 12v when the fm/am radio is on (used for power antenna) but cuts off when other sources are used (cd,aux, ipod). My guesses are, you have the amp wire on the vehicle harness (blue) tied into this wire, instead of the BLUE/WHITE wire on the alpine which has 12v as long as the radio is on. i hope this solves your problem, 9 times out of 10 on a chrysler this is it.

Is the CDA-9827 capable of playing songs from an mp3 player (does it have an input option)?

The Alpine CDA-9827 only has an input connector for an external CD Changer.

You could get an FM Transmitter for your MP3 Player, and play your MP3 Player using your FM Radio in your Stereo.

Here is an excellent MP3 Player FM Transmitter:
