How to Fix Canon Printer Error Code U163: 1. First, you need to tap on the Canon Pixma MX328 Stop/Reset Button.
2. When a machine is ON, bring the refilled cartridges into a machine and cover the top part of device equally with scanning unit cover.
3. Now you have to wait for few seconds until error displays. And if an error code is not displayed then start printing, to show the error code in LCD display panel.
4. While using the device if you see the errors then carefully click and grip Reset/Reset button. Don't free the button until printing machine restarts automatically.

2. Press Stop/Reset button don't release
3. Press Power Button don't release and than release Stop/Reset button
4. Press Stop/Reset button 2X , wait until service mode to " 0 "
5. Turn off printer, cable power still plug in
6. Press Stop/Reset button don't release
7. Press Power Button don't release and than release Stop/Reset button
8. Press Stop/Reset button 4X , wait until service mode to " 1 "
9. Turn off printer, and loose cable power, wait one minute.
10. Connect cable power, turn on printer again, now this printer ready to use.

I had the same error and I could find no information on what it was or how to fix it so I decided to go trial and error. What I found is that this relates to the print head not being able to completely pass from the left to right side during startup. I had a plastic carriage on the one side that was stuck in a position that stop the carriage from make the complete run from side to side. When I forced the plastic carriage down and it clicked into place the error stopped and the printer started up normally with no codes. If anything is causing the print head to not travel completely from left to right during startup, this will probable cause the code. It will be hard to see if the print head is being obstructed if you don't remove the sides. I hope this helps.

Solution: Press and hold Stop/Reset button for at least five seconds.
Clearing the Ink Error If you want to continue printing in this condition, press and hold the <Stop/Reset> button on the printer for at least five seconds, and then release it. Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).
If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.
The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled.
Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is continued under the ink out condition.

5A means that the purge cam stopps abnormally when it is in use. This could be of a broken cam shaft. You have to replace the whole purge unit. This is a service job to do!
