Im trying to figure out my password for my ps3.

I assume your dad was using your ps3 to sign in or his own? You can always go to the official playstation website and at the top it will ask for a sign in. After that choose the forgot password option and enter your information to recieve an email that will let you change your password. If you do not have access to the email account anymore you will have to contact customer support @ 1-800-345-Sony.

soz im looking for an answer too, my ps3 is new out of the box and it wont let me sign up due to that error :P

1. The hum you hear is probably the heat-sink fan, sometimes if you get some compressed air and use it in the bottom air vents it will go away.

I just want a little more info on the Netflix issue. Just to confirm I'm on the same page as you.
When you are trying to use Netflix are you using the PS3 web browser or signing into PSN?
The reason I ask is that in order to use Netflix on a PS3 you have to sign into the PSN with the email aand password you would use to play a online and the download the Netflix program from PSN, after install would then choose the Netflix icon and then use the sign on info required by Netflix. If you have done all of this, try doing a factory reset on your modem/router. I run Netflix on my console too and with the PS3 you won't need a authorization code to access your account.

You need to sign up for the Playstation Network. Its free and you can sign up on your PS3 or on the computer. I will provide you links on how to do both.

Also, check and make sure you have the latest Firmware Update for your PS3, you can check that by going to the Settings Tab on the XMD main screen and go up to the "Check for Updates".

You can log in as a new user but im not sure if you'll have admin control of the system, might do though. failing that you could reformat the hard drive but you'll lose all your saved data, music, game saves etc
