Transfer itunes to new computer without disks

I think a lot of you guys will be able to relate to this. I just got a brand new HP laptop (Running Windows Vista), I want to transfer my playlists and other stuff to the new laptop. Without the hassle of copying everything to a CD. The old computer is a Compaq running Windows XP. I also have a Iphone 4 gb, and a ipod video 30 gb. If possible I would like to find a third party downloadable app that would allow me to go from iphone to new laptop without erasing any of my iphone data (its jailbroken i dont want to do it again). If this isnt possible maybe there's a way to go from ipod to my new laptop. Please let me know. I know theres tons of stuff out there, anything thats pretty reliable and free would be good... Thanks so much in advance.

ITunes is stutters when playing HD tv on my HP laptop 2 years old running widows Vista. I use a LaCie external hard drive to store my itunes files. (Also I initially was having issues with all tv but...

If cooling is an issue problems might prevail until you clean the dust from the vents and air-ducts inside your laptop. If you think you see filter pads in the air ducts they're probably piled up dust instead.
Also is your external drive OK and is the data transfer rate from the disk good enough for HD video material?
Try copying one test file onto the desktop for testing.

My Ipod nano contains all my music. Unable to transfer to laptop

Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

Totransfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need todownload software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

  1. Download and Install TouchCopy. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
  2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop
  3. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopymay start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTuneswill not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
  4. Now select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want toselect all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left andclick on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar. In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars and notes.
  5. Whenyou are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, useiTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content toit.

Transfer photos to laptop

You need to install itunes on your laptop so your iphone can sync with itunes and your computer.. this is used to tranfer music to your iphone, transfer photo's and video etc and also to check for new firmware versions/back up your phone.

You can however take photo's from your iphone without itunes if you connect your phone via usb and choose open folder to view files when the dialog pops up after you plug it in.. this has very limited use however you really need to install itunes. Itunes is a free download

Connecting ipod to a new laptop

You can actually (or could have) transfer the songs from your
Laptop & iPod by using you iPod like a removable
Hard Disk Drive

Here is the Apple sanctioned method:

Note: While you can use the Transfer Purchase From iPod option under the File menu to copy iTunes Store purchases from the iPod to another computer you can't transfer songs from other sources from the iPod library to iTunes

So you'll need to follow the steps below to use iPod as a hard disk to transfer music files from one computer to another. This process will require the use of iTunes 7 on all computers. Any computers running iTunes 6 or earlier will need to be updated to follow these steps.

Once you have the files transferred, you'll need to authorize any iTunes Store content. If you won't be using your old computer, you'll want to deauthorize it.

Important: Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats), so you can't use a Mac-formatted iPod to move your music to a Windows PC.
Switch the iPod to manual update and enable disk use The first thing you need to do is make sure have configured your iPod to enable disk use. To do this:
  1. Open iTunes on your old computer.
  2. Connect your iPod to your old computer and wait for it to appear in iTunes.
  3. Select your iPod in the Source pane under the Devices section to display your iPod preferences in the main library window.
  4. Click the Summary tab in the main iTunes window.
  5. Click the Manually manage music button. Changing from automatic updating to manual puts a check mark by Enable disk use. A message says:
"Disabling automatic update requires manually unmounting the iPod before each disconnect."

If you need to copy from old computer:
Copy iTunes folder to iPod To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your iPod:
  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Locate your iPod:
Mac OS X: On the desktop
    Windows: In My Computer
  3. Locate your iTunes folder:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
  4. Drag the iTunes folder to the iPod. This can take a while if you have a lot of songs.

  • When the copy completes open iTunes.
  • Click on the iPod in the Source pane
  • Click the Eject button in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
  • Disconnect the iPod from the computer when the "Do not disconnect" message no longer appears on the iPod screen.
Now:
Copy music to new computer To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your new computer:
  1. Locate your Music folder (Mac OS X) or your My Music folder (Windows) on your new computer:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
  2. Drag the iTunes folder in this location out to the desktop. 300173_10.gifFrom the My Music folder to the Desktop on your new PC
  • Locate the iPod on the new computer:
  • Mac OS X: On the desktop.
  • Windows: In My Computer.
  • Double-click on the iPod to open it.
  • Drag the iTunes folder from the iPod to the Music folder (Mac OS X) or My Music Folder (Windows) on your new computer. This can take a while if you have a lot of songs.
  • Open iTunes
There you go. All your music, playlists, and other information like play counts and ratings have all been moved from your old computer to your new one.
If that doesn't cover it fully..... wow!
