My Luxor 4Pro dvr lost power and now it won't recognize the hdd.

New hard drive required

is this the hard drive you recieved with the DVR? it is possible that the HDD is set up in the wrong format. windows sets up your HDD in a NTFS format which is compatible with most DVR's but i know there are some EverFocus units that read the HDD in a diffrent format. if this is the case you need too check in your owners manual in the HDD section, it should tell you what format it records onto, then place the HDD in your PC and reformat it to the right one.

ignore the format thing, totally.
its MS way of telling you , its seems corrupted.
what system? PC, dvr, MAC, laptop.
what OS, windozs what,? xp,w7.w8?
the FreeAgent is and external HDD.
1: is the power pack plugged in?
2:is the led indicator dead on HDD.
3: did you try all USB ports.
4: did you try it on another system.? and USB port?
5: did you look in disk manager to see if it shows up, say DISK2?
6: did you ever drop it?

You need to format the hard drive using the built in formatting utlity. Did you replace the hard drive in the DVR maybe?

It should only take a few min's.

The MAC is not recognizing HDD because it may not be in FAT or MAC OS X Journeled Format.
Please Follow below steps to Reformat the HDD to make it Compatible with MAC.

1. Connect the HDD.
2. Open Disk Utility from Applications -> Utilities
3. On left side of Disk Utility you'll find your HDD.
4. Click on HDD and select the Format TAB.
5. Reformat the HDD in Mac OSX Journeled Format.
6. Click Apply.
7. Done.

P.S. : It will erase everything from your HDD so remember to backup all data before doing this.

I bought a new hard drive now it wont detect the master hard drive or slave hard drive

The internal power supply to the HDD is often suspect in these units. Check you have power on the internal plug to the HDD from the circuit board. if you do not Try fitting an external HDD power supply (£15) this cured my unit which had a similar fault.

Go to menue ---> System ---> Clear HDD and make sure "yes" is selected and hit enter.
