Hp laserjet 1020 meltdown

Hi,

Try this out:

Some printers require time to turn on. These printers may or may not give feedback in the form of blinking light(s). Wait up to a minute for the power light to come on before proceeding with the steps below. Instructions If the printer uses a power adapter (module), follow the instructions below. If the printer uses only a power cord, see the section below entitled “ If the printer uses only a power cord .” If the printer uses a power module Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord or adapter from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the printer, wait thirty seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Disconnect the power cord from the power module and reconnect the power cord to the power module. This may not be necessary if the power module has a permanently attached power cord.
  6. Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord was plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead. NOTE: "The HP Photosmart 8100, 8400, and HP Deskjet 6000 series printer power cords feature a green LED built into the power plug. If the LED is not glowing, the power module may have failed. Proceed to step 7 below.
  7. If the printer still will not turn on or the power LED built into the power cord is not glowing, plug the printer into a wall outlet in another room. If the printer or power LED turns on when connected to an electrical outlet in another room, there is a problem with the power in the original room.
  8. If there is still no power to the printer, then the power module, cord, or printer may be defective. Try the power module/cord on another HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer, of the same model if possible, to see if the power module is functioning. If the power LED is still not glowing, the power module may be defective. Replace the power module and cord.
  9. If the power module/cord works on the other printer, then this printer is defective. Service your printer.
  10. If you cannot determine whether the problem is the printer or the power module/cord, or if another printer is not available to test with, replace the power module/cord first. If this does not resolve the issue, service your printer.
If the printer uses only power cord Follow the steps below to ensure power is properly supplied to the printer:
  1. Check the power module part number against the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure the proper power adapter is being used.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the printer, wait thirty seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet. If the power cord was plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead.
  6. If the printer still will not turn on, plug the printer into a wall outlet in another room. If the printer turn on when connected to an electrical outlet in another room, there is a problem with the power in the original room.
  7. If there is still no power to the printer, then the power cord or printer may be defective. Try the power cord on another HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer to see if the power cord is functioning.
  8. If the power cord does not work on the other printer, it is defective. Replace the power cord.
  9. If the power cord works on the other printer, then this printer is defective. Service your printer.
  10. If another printer is not available to test with, carefully inspect the power cord for damage.
  11. Inspect the power cord for visible damage. If the power cord is damaged, replace the power cord first. If this does not resolve the issue, or if the power cord looks fine, then service your printer.

Goodluck,
Dont forget to rate me as fixya..

I need to know where to plug power cable and what type power cable i need

When you buy a printer power cable tell to the salesman/saleslady about the model of the printer for them to match your printer...
You can locate the input power chord into back or side of the printer...then plug that power cable into outlet to power on the printer
Note: Do not power on the printer until your pc configure it

Good morning, i was printing and the printer shut

Try to unplug the power adapter from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet in the wall. Replug the power cord after at least 10 seconds - bypass any power surge devices or power strips. Replug the power adapter into the printer. Your printer should automatically power on, otherwise, press the power button. If the printer still won't power on, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.

Continuously says "entering power saver mode" i've pushed

It seems the printer is stuck on the power saver mode. Unplug the power adapter from the printer. The power adapter is the rectangular black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back the power adapter in the printer? That should reset the printer. If the printer won't automatically turn on, press the power button. Hope this helps.

Printer will not power on

Try these out:
1. Check for any physical defects on the power cord. Plug printer straight to the power outlet in the wall without using any extensions or power strips.
2. Plug the printer to a known working power outlet in the wall.
3. Unplug the printer's power supply (the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached). With the power cord still attached to power supply and the other end still plugged in to the power outlet, it should feel warm but not hot. Then, plug it back in the printer.
4. If still no power, press the power button.
5. If after doing these and the printer is still not powering on, you might be looking at a defective power cord or defective power supply.
