Num Lock Light Wont Work

On some models, pressing Fn and F4 key will disable/enable Num lock on latitude.

On some other Dell laptops, a BIOS setup menu selection must be made when turning on the laptop to enable it to work.

The problem is in the Keyboard of your laptop some keys are pressed or becomes faulty , change the keyboard

Sounds like you have num lock on. The Num lock key is usually the same as Scrlk but to select the Num lock you have to press and hold Shift then press NumLk/ScrLk. A light should light up to indicate the keypad is on/off.

Please go to safe mode using administrator account and check whether it is entering or not? the 9 light shows the num lock is on and it could be turned off by pressing num lock or Fn num lock combo. This will also ensure (if num lock is working) that the issue is woth software.

Normally the num lock is marked as num Lk which is placed next to the F12 keys in the top row.
So check this out ..... This is so in my Dell vostro

The Function keys up top will not do anything when not in a program that has them set.

The num lock key on most laptops does not itself work: it must be pressed in conjunction with another key. This is normally the "FN" key at the lower left.

Please try pressing the "FN" key while you press the "num lock" key and see if this now works.

The num lock key is labeled as 'Num Lk' on the Dell Studio 15 keyboard. It is located above the =/+ key next to backspace.

To activate num lock, you cannot just press the button. You have to make sure the num lock light is on and then hold down Fn while using the numpad.

Go into the BIOS and find the setting that says "Num Lock on at power on" and turn it off.

The 5th key from the right on the top row of your keyboard should is the Num Lock Key...
