Take out the ram and reseat it. Try again, if you still have the problem, take out half the ram and test it and then switch it around till you find out what ram chips are possibly bad.

Did you make sure to install the memory starting from DIMM3? You should install into DIMM3 then DIMM2 according to the NF7 manual.

Abit AW8 LGA775 Maximum memory

Hi there
Sounds like the bios will need updating as the board will support 8BG ram.
Put your old memory back in the machine, boot into windows, go to the motherboards manufacturers website and download the latest bios update and install it and reboot.
make sure you read the info on how to install the bios update.
I must also warn you that if you are using a 32bit operating system it will only recognize 2.9BG of memory, there is nothing you can do about this apart from install a 64bit operating system if the board supports 64bit processors.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

My Abit NF7-S v2.0 only works with one memory module at a time

I have read that there are dual memory controllers (duel channel) and that when you use 2GB like that you are using 1 memory controller for each stick. Maybe one of your memory controllers is bad... maybe popped a cap? Sounds like time for a new MB. See this thread...

Pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....

4 GiG memory

Your motherboard doesnot offer dual channel memory architechture and 2x2GB memory is taken in sigle channel mode. Apart from that 32bit Operating Systems don't recognise memory over 3 Gb. So you have the following options...
1. Attach only one 2GB
2. Attach 2GB + 1GB
3. Move up to a 64bit OS with your current 2x2GB memory modules.
Please collect memory module of the same frequency if you consider option 2.
