Connection to PC

I try to connect TV to my PC with HDMI-DVI cable, but TV shows no picture. It goes straight to power saving mode. Computer shows that devise is not recognized, but it shows that I can force connection to tv, but then it is showed as VGA device. OS is Win7 64bit and graphic card is ATI Radeon HD5450. My friend (which whom I bought TV) used TV with computer too, but she used HDMI cable and HDMI-DVI adapter and it worked.

The problem has changed a bit. I adjusted the resolution and now tv shows picture when starting up the computer. But TV goes back to power saving mode when computer logs in to my user. Computer has only one user (me) so it logs in automatically. Also, TV shows picture only when picture is copied to both displays (TV and monitor). So basically, no picture after logging in.

  • Have you changed your projector settings? Maybe this might be the problem....

I have had the same problem. If you have a VGA cable shown at the bottom. You can hook that into your laptop into the TV. The slots look like a blue incovering. You can also look at the image below that one for more additional help....

SOURCE: Hi, I have bought LG LCD

Hi Jatinder Kumar ,
Yes you can connect your computer output to lcd tv through dvi-hdmi cable or vga-hdmi cable.
1. Connect to HDMI (DVI) : just plug in HDMI (DVI) out of PC or laptop to HDMI or DVI TV. Than select source from HDMI.
2. Connect to PC : Plug D sub to TV, select PC in.

I hope that will help you.
thanks.

How to switch from analog to digital mode

Any contemporary monitor is able to switch analog/digital mode automatically if connection from signal source to monitor is set up properly.

Connect digital output from your graphic card to DVI input of the monitor. Disconnect any other signal cables from monitor and switch on both devices (PC & monitor). Wait a while. Monitor checks its inputs and a activates digital DVI, because it is only one active input on it.

If none picture excluding error message of monitor is displayed, go through these steps:
1) Check whether your monitor is set for automatic input selection. If monitor buttons have no response try to use analog input to activate screen (any picture, desktop background...) and then get monitor menu access by pressing menu button.

2) Find out what connector type has your graphics card in PC. Possibilities are: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and some their options. See Wikipedia for connector look if you are not sure.
Remember that blue D-SUB (VGA) connectors are analogue and you cannot activate digital mode through analog VGA cable.

3) Use appropriate cable to connect monitor to PC.
Example: Your PC has HDMI output. Use HDMi-to-DVI cable. Your monitor input is DVI and common DVI-DVI cable is not suitable in case you have PC with the HDMI.
Note that DVI-to-DVI, DisplayPort-to-DVI etc. cables are available. You must buy right one.

Be aware that "Auto" button is inactive in digital mode of monitor.

I can get picture with hdmi connected but no sound. Do i have to connect the optical digital audio cable from PC to TV to get sound? Actually the video and sound go to stereo receiver first, video passes...

If your video card supports audio over hdmi in that case you need to find the s/pdif port on you motherboard and the port on your video card (usually right next to and sli or xfire bridge) then you can send the sound thru the hdmi. if not you will have to connect your optical audio cable or a 3.5mm audio out to rca left and right out to your receiver for audio. what video card and mother board are you using? if you know this i can tell you exactly where the ports are for the spdif cable to video card and mobo.

Which accessories are a 'most have' for connecting my TV to a desktop pc?

You'll need:
•VGA cable
•S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable
•HDMI cable
•DVI cable
Check the connection options on your TV. If your TV has a VGA connection slot, plug the TV into the computer with a VGA cordlike a computer monitor. Connect one end of the VGA cable to the back of the computer and the other end to the TV. Switch between normal TV viewing to displaying your computer on your TV by selecting the proper mode from the remote control, some remotes will mark the proper mode as "VGA" while others will label it "Computer" or "PC."
Check the back of your computer to see if you have an S cable slot. Connect S cable portion of the S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable to the computer and plug in the green audio plug to the audio port of the PC. Plug the red white and yellow RCA cables into the matching colors of the RCA slots on the TV. With this method you will need to switch modes from TV to video.
Check the back of the computer and TV for either DVI or HDMI slots. The slots on your computer must match, you cannot connect a DVI to a HDMI. Plug one end of the corresponding cable into the the back of the TV and the other end into the computer. Choose the correct program mode, HDMI or DVI, from the remote to view the computer from the TV.

Im trying to use my TV as my monitor for my pc?

What problem are you having? The connection should be fairly straight forward depending on your computer's video out. You can use a VGA cable, DVI to HDMI (check your graphics card manual for single link or dual link on the DVI side), or component video (even S-video). If you have HDMI out on the video card, use an HDMI cable. If you want to connect to the TV's speakers, you need at least an 3.5 mm audio cable (or 3.5 mm to RCA audio).

The DVI cable can be either a DVI to HDMI cable or DVI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI with a DVI to HDMI adapter at one or the other end.

I hope this helps.

(you will need to go through the input modes to find the signal. Some TVs need to be on (with no signal) before the computer is turned on.)

Have Dell Dimension 2400 and wanting to connect to Emerson LD195EMX.. attach to PC Monitor connection but no scrren comes up/// WHat else can I do?

Is the PC monitor connection - a DVI or DVI-I connection a 15-pin VGA connection an RCA video connection?
Have you set the television input to match the connector used on the TV?
The display resolution on your computer may not be set to a resolution your TV can handle. There is no point trying to put a 1280 by 800 signal into a VGA connector. Start with 640 by 480. However, this will not give you the high resolution you have come to expect from your PC's monitor.
This set also has HDMI input. If your computer has a DVI or DVI-I output, you can buy an adapter that will connect to that HDMI input. Note that this will only handle the video portion of the output from your computer and you will have to use analog connections for the sound and figure out which TV menu input selections allow high definition video with analog sound (not all sets can do this).
Note that LED TVs are not like CRT TVs where an electron beam can put a dot anywhere on the screen. An LED TV has fixed resolution modes.
It might be necessary to use a software product like "PowerStrip" to create a custom resolution mode that will show a high resolution image that will fill the screen of your TV. I wound up using 1352 x 648 to give a full screen image on my LED TV using the HDMI input. ("Your mileage may vary.")
There is a lot more to connecting a high resolution computer display to an LED TV than just plugging it into the "PC Input".

How do i connect my compaq pc to tv

Without the model number comptuer, I cannot verify what outputs your comptuer has. Without this, I will provide the various ways a PC can be connected to a TV.

1. Use a VGA to DVI adapter (HD-15 pin to DVI). Use either a standard VGA montor extension cable (cheaper) or a DVI extension cable (more expensive) to make the connection

2. If you computer has a DVI output, use a DVI extension cable only

3. If your computer has HDMI output - use a HDMI to DVI adapter and either a HDMI or DVI extension cable.

In all 3 cases, you will probably need to go to the comptuer's Display Properties and adjust the screen size so it looks OK on your TV (go to the Control Panel - find Display) and adjust the screen resolution to match the format of your TV.

One note - when purchasing DVI cables, understand that there are 3 types - DVI-D (digital), DVI-A (analog) and DVI-I (digital and analog) and that the pin outs are different. Be sure to check your the owners manual of your TV to find which connection it needs.

Here is a good reference for DVI types

Problems connecting computer to tv via dvi

Not sure if you have fixed your problem or not. When I hook up my pc to the ILO 32 HD...I ran DVI input for picture...you can also use HDMI if you like..I had a problem with sound and had to use a splitter and run sound into AV2 IN to get sound for some reason...your no picture...if you are getting a black screen, you need to set the resolution on your pc. VGA to 640x480 and SVGA should be 800x600 and XGA should set at 1024x768..most likely the last one is the one you need..and this is not a normal pc res....set your refresh rate to 60HZ. All this is done in the control panel/display/settings tab. Also remember that you need to change your source on the TV to the proper connection to see it...ie component, HDMI etc.
