Telstra 7100a home phone

I tried to replace the batteries in my home phone and now my phone will not work. The base will ring but the handset will not. The screen will only flash up with the messages, battery, and signal symbols. It will not allow you to dial a number either

Hi, It sounds like the batteries of the handset could be the problem.
Try replacing the batteries with other new batteries. I recently purchased a good brand of battery (not rechargeable), but they were down in their voltage straight out of the package.
Make sure the batteries are AAA NiMH batteries, and that they are charged for at least 16 hours.
Also check that you have inserted them the correct way +ve/-ve.
When you have inserted them, place the phone on the base and the handset should show you it is charging.

SOURCE: One the additional handset and the base handset,

Pull battery out of handset for 5 minutes and replace. Then, sit each handset into base cradle until the unit(s) sync.

Telstra cordless 301 message light flashes on handset 1 which is on the base, but the 2nd handset message light does not flash even if it is on the cradle. I have unplugged both phones several times to no...

If the message light on the Telstra cordless handset 1 is flashing, indicating a new message, but the message light on handset 2 does not flash even when it's on the cradle, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check message notification settings: Make sure that the message notification settings on both handsets are properly configured. Refer to the user manual or the settings menu on the handsets to adjust the message notification settings. Ensure that the notification is enabled for both handsets.
  2. Reset the handsets: Try resetting both handsets to their default settings. This can be done by removing the batteries from the handsets, unplugging the base station, and leaving them disconnected for a few minutes. Then, reinsert the batteries and plug in the base station. Allow the handsets to reconnect to the base and check if the message light on both handsets functions properly.
  3. Check the base station: Ensure that the base station is functioning correctly. Check if the base station is properly connected to the telephone line and power source. If possible, try connecting handset 2 to the base station that handset 1 is connected to and see if the message light functions on that base station. This will help determine if the issue is with the base station or the handset itself.
  4. Contact Telstra support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may be best to contact Telstra support directly for further assistance. They will have specific knowledge of their product and can provide more detailed troubleshooting steps or advise on any potential repairs or replacements that may be necessary.
Remember to refer to the user manual for your specific Telstra cordless model for more detailed instructions on troubleshooting and operating the handset.

Telstra 7100. we had a power cut and now the phone just flashes with base 1 ....no dialing tone ect help

Disconnect the phone line leaving the power supply still plugged in. Next page the handset from the base unit hold and press button until it bleeps (remove the handset from the base unit first). press menu and scroll down to register.... press menu .....scroll down to select base... press menu then press 1. This should reset the phone. Failing that you can ring customer services the number will be on the bottom of the base unit.

Searching for base

My long-term experience with these phones is that occasionally, they get themselves into some kind of weird state: this is usually indicated by the flashing "searching" message.

In all cases it's been cured by unplugging the power supply AND the phone-line (both simultaneously) from the base, waiting a few seconds, then re-connecting. Normally this sorts things out, but will require you to re-set time& date (the base can sometimes still derive power from the incoming 50v line). Batteries out of handsets is a last (addtional) resort. I've very rarely had to re-register.
