We turn the tv on at wall, use the remote to switch on and the standby light turns on green, you hear a noise like when a cd or dvd loads then the standby light goes red and flashes 13 times a pause then it continues to flash 13 times.
Really? Nobody has a better solution? I have the same problem and the tv's about a year old. That's it!

You shud contact the customer service centre...cuz thats what im doin..its really complicated for me to repair it on my own. they say it there might be a problem in the mother board o_O
Same thing is happening to me, every time I call the repair people, the problems stops happening. sony isn't being so helpful either. its a $2400 TV that is 16 months old - (6 months past the waranty)

It sounds like a power supply problem sounds like its trying to boot and then its losing voltage somewhere the flashing lights red will be a series of flashes pointing to a certain fault.have you looked in the manual on faults.if not ring your tv helpline you should have a service no sorry cant help more if i find anything out ill post on here.
I have this same problem. turns out one of the CCFL bulbs in the panel is out. the entire panel needs to be replaced!
Sounds like your main board or powersupply is faulty not worth repairing
