This occurs on some channels more than others and when it does sound can be re-established by hitting the MTS button on the remote and changing to either stereo or mono (which ever it shut off from in the first place.) This happens less frequently when we watch DVD's, but does happen. it's very annoying and can happen multiple times in an hour. Even though our TV is HD we are currently just using it through normal cable. We're not sure if our TV is defective and we should take it back or if we've just hooked it up incorrectly. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks, but there's no sap to turn off. The choice in the sound menu is "mts" of which there are 3 choices....sap, mono or stero. I've tried setting the TV on all of the above and the problem still occurs. ie, it spontaneously jumps from one to the other. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn "off" sap. If I set it on sap there's no sound at all. Thanks anyway!!
