Heater elements are found in electric ovens, you have a gas oven. It sounds like your main gas valve is not opening because the pilot would light it if it was open. It could be the gas valve itself of the flame sensor. Best to get a tech on it.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Stove elements not working

First thing I would check is see if you are getting 220 volts to the stove.  Must be a constant 220.  Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: Replaced element, oven is still not heating

You may still have a bad Electronic Range Control (ERC). This is your timer that you mentioned. The oven is controlled by the ERC. There is a separate circuit for the BROIL and BAKE functions. Does the BROIL element still work? Or, are both elements not working? You may want to double check all your connections from the element to the control board as well. Sometimes the wire lugs can oxidize and not make good contact. Check the ERC to see if there any obvious signs of failure. Burned components are common. These boards are considered "non-serviceable" and usually requires replacing. You can attempt component-level troubleshooting if you are savvy with electronics. There's usually a basic block diagram that comes with your appliance mounted somewhere inside the operator console or on the back panel of the range.

The ERC for your range would cost in the neighborhood of about $100 - $140 to replace. Prices will vary between model versions and will also depend on where you get it. It is a very simple repair job if you wish to pursue this yourself. I can give you step-by-step instructions if you need further assistance. I hope this helps you.

PS The reason all your surface elements still work is because they are controlled by infinite switches behind the control knobs. There is a separate switch for EACH burner.

I have an old gas stove. No igniter.Lights with pilot light only. Stove top burners work fine.Oven does not ignite. The pilot lite is on.I smell no gas when I turn it on.

Pilot flame has to hit the thermocouple. If pilot is dory flame.will be weak and not reaching the thermocouple that tells the oven there is a flame and opens the burner. If the pilot is strong and no gas to burner than that thermocouple. ( 100% safely valve is worn out) replace that and you are good

Hello Patrick,

WHen you turn on the oven/broiler does the size of the polot ligh increase in size??
the way it is suppose to work is...thier a small free standing polot light and when ya turn on the oven the size of the pilot is suppose to increase and heat a little bulb that is connected to a wire that is mounted to the pilot burner and when that bulb heats up it will allow the main gas to flow into the oven(not pilot burner).

If the size of the pilot does not increase it could be caused by a clogged pilot burner. the way to determine that is TURN OFF GAS SUPPLY...disconnect gas line from pilot burner and turn on gas to unit, light that tube with it disconnected from pilot burner and turn oven on and see if size of flame drastically increases...if it does turn gas off and remove and replace pilot burner
if flame sizedoes not increase the problem is going to be the thermostat

If the pilot does increase and heats the bulb on the pilot burner the problem will be with the gas valve that, that bulb in the pilot burner accathes to is bad .

now chances of the thersostat still being available is very slim if the pilot burner is clogged and needs replaced they are still available their is 2 of them one has the mounting plate on the left and one is on the right.
here is what they look like

oldtech2332_148.jpgPart number for this one is 1898-021 notice how the mounting tab is on the right

oldtech2332_149.jpgthis one is pt# 1898-022 the tab is on the left

That when performing a quick search on google is pretty much all that still available teh thermostat (would need model number) is doubtful to find also a good chance the gas valve is also no longer available

Good luck,

Hotpoint gas stove. burners work, oven and broiler do not.

Probably the safety valve. This unit broils and bakes off the same gas burner. A spark ignitor lights the pilot and this save gas because no standing pilot is needed. It takes a few minutes for the thermocouple bimetal combo to release the gas. When the temp gets to the desired rate then the bulb on the oven control closes off the flow of gas. To recap: The flow of gas comes from a regulator along a rail which supplys the gas to the top burners and the oven control. older models had pilot light tubing going down to the oven and to the top burners. This newer style uses a spark module to light off the top burners and the oven. So when yall turn the the oven on the spark ignitor lights the pilot first and then after the mercury bulf thermocouple heats up the bimetal inside the valve opens allowing gas to flow out to the pilot and ignite the gas burner. the temp rises and the mercury bulb oven control expands closing off the flow but not the gas safety valve. I would suspect the safety valve on this one.

Was preheating oven, while cooking on stove stop. heard a puff sound open up oven thought it was on but it never heated up. the electric light comes on but does not ignite. the broiler does the same. ...

Gas ovens are fitted with at least one safety device and it could be it has failed.

The safety device is bypassed while the pilot light is lit. The pilot light heats a thermocouple bulb which switches the gas on to the burner. As long as the pilot light continues to heat the bulb gas will continue to flow - until the thermocouple fails, they aren't long-lasting...

I have a kenmore stove whose burners wont light. oven works fine. burners will spark but no gas comes out. recently I turned off the power to the stove by turning the fuse off. what do I need to do to get...

If the gets give no gas then sounds like a Thermocouple, this is a device that allows the gas to come on after a period of time ensuring that the pilot is lit and heated up this thermocouple, once it heats it then allows gas to enter and ignite the main burner..hope this helps ,please leave feedback.

Stove top pilot light

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.
