This is a very little mileage hp pavilion p6000 model#p6510f. Was running AOK intil 2 days ago, blue power light failed to light but still ran ok, then no light seen in switch amber or blue when it came out of sleep mode. Did hard shut down few times no indicator light on power switch, no display, you can see through grill some inner green lghts and fan runs(green light on backside-power supply on) wont boot up-or display on monitor any info... monitor tested on other pc , AOK...?change power supply or powerswitch? Thanks
Ok th p6000. complete range when they were made had to be recalled as they put the copper expansion pipes ran across the gpu & cpu hence a massive overheat problem. they put copper shims over the cpu & gpu but this worked for a short time but it was inevitable and both units ended up being cooked i had this problem with mine. so if you have tried external monitor with no images it would sound or more likely to be the gpu cooked sorry for the bad news.
SOURCE: PC or monitor, signal problems
your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

I don't see how removing the battery would help but tried for the same problem and it did in fact do nothing.
The fan races but the system never makes it to the Bios and never displays anything on the monitor. I suspect a chip is fried on the MoBo.
Maxum52, please post the solution if you found one.

ok, there could have been a graphics issue in the bios caused by the windows graphics drivers, heres what you could try........... remove the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the side panel to allow access to the motherboard, you will see a battery! take it out for 10 mins and push the on/off button a couple of times, this will drain any remaing power from the motherboard, after 10 mins the CMOS should have cleared so you can replace the battery, plug in the power and turn the machine on hopefully you'll get a signal
good luck

Your power supply is bad--you will need to replace. I suggest looking at tigerdiect for a replacement.
