Try changing the coolant temp sensor, it determines when the ECU shifts from open loop (cold) to closed loop(hot)

as far as i know, the electric motor is not available. Replace it with a Furuno or Simrad pump (Acusteer) and you will have a sevice-able item.

What kind of steering dumper is that? What brand?
If it uses gas chamber you cannot fill it yourself.If it is only with oil you can rebuilt it but you need some tools (depends on the brand) and if you can find a sevice manual it would be a lot better (to know how much oil to put inside and parts that you may need).

in the past I used a place called robbs repair; however they charged from 1000 to 2500 dollars to repair a machine that was only worth 3000.

So thats when I decided to bring the service of our 230's and 255's in house..

I have 15 years of electronics engineering experience and alot of that focused in broacast audio and video.


I am getting set up in a new building to do this as a business now: I used to be a TV station engineer but decided I try making a business of this.

I have experience completely refubishing the 230 and 255 models.
I have already coordinated with an electronics assembly house and got excellant pricing quotations for the sevice of replacing all of the capacitors on the boards in the unit that go stale after 5000 to 8000 hours of use ...

This is only one of the major problems the all dvc's encounter:
reel motors, captsans and elevator\ejector assemblies, cleaning rollers and pinch rollers all need replacement for a complete refurb.


500 bucks for a complete recapping, and a quote would have to be provided for the replacement of the other parts based on the units needs...

Bit error rate tests are done on recorded playbacks, so that I dont just send you a machine that plays video; because the machine employs 'forward error correction' in the recorded digital video ..
meaning you can have a machine that is barely working with lots of errors, but still plays back fine..

And we dont want this: we want to return a machine that is robust with lots of margin and very little bit error.
