your on camera settings in Exposure has the multiple exposure option On.

Does your exposure lamp come on ? Mite have a problem with the scanner lamp or the Scanner reader that the CCD the black device under the big glass that views the document to be copied. Exposure lamp is what high lights the original document(s)

do you have a light meter & know how to shoot in manual mode ?

I inserted my negative holder in backwards on my Nikon 5000 35 mm scanner. Then I could get the last (5th) slide scanned. But I can not get the scanner to work on my new IMac because of no working driver. Silver Fast has no drivers for the Nikon 5000

To rewind the film mid-roll, press the two film rewind buttons simultaneously for one second. The two buttons are marked with a red film symbol, and double as the Auto Exposure Bracketing button to the left of the viewfinder and the Aperture/Exposure Compensation button to the right of the control panel.

The film is completely rewound when a blinking "E" shows in the control panel.

The D40x does not have this facility.

All you can do is to combine two exposures in your processing software; it's best controlled by combining two or more RAW images.

With the same exposure settings, you should get the same result. When using Bulb in Manual mode, you also need to be sure you have set the lens aperture to the largest opening (lowest number). And don't forget to set ISO to 1600. Since the D80 has shutter speeds as long as 30" (minutes) I recommend you use them instead of Bulb, unless you need longer.

The blue areas are heat noise from long exposure -- other electronic components near the sensor are generating heat from the constant current flow. Be sure you check your Shooting Menu settings to set Long Exposure NR to ON and also High ISO NR to HIGH.

likely there's nothing wrong with the D300 - all that's happened is that its inadvertently been set into bracketing mode and hence it cycles through 3 or 5 or 7 different exposures each time it is activated!

Not many DSLR's offer the ability to make double exposures. Pentax *istD and Nikon D2x are 2 that can.

Otherwise it's down to you and the abilities of Photoshop and the like.

Not all cameras can do this. The Nikon N8008, for example, allows you to specify the number of exposures for each frame. The N80, on the other hand, doesn't. You have to cancel the Multiple Exposure mode to advance to the next frame, then set M-E again.
